Here's another beautiful quote -

"Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude and selfish. It does not take offense and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people's sins, but delights in the truth. It is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope and to endure whatever comes."

-Nicholas Sparks, A Walk To Remember.

“It's great that you can listen and be a shoulder to someone, but what about when someone doesn't need a shoulder? What if they need the arms or something like that? You can't just sit there and put everybody's lives ahead of yours and think that counts as love. You just can't. You have to do things.”

But mostly, I was crying because I was suddenly very aware of the fact that it was me standing up in that tunnel with the wind over my face. Not caring if I saw downtown. Not even thinking about it. Because I was standing in the tunnel. And I was really there. And that was enough to make me feel infinite.

Facing teenage probs is nothing for adults ... but, having past painful & facing present is quiet difficult ,,, that point was blended very nicely.
Movies always misses some points which were touching in books .. ditto happened for this story too.

message 40: by Som (new)

Som It was hard so I went with 2 quotes, from the same book though so consider it 1! *Brownian logic*

“Everybody is identical in their secret unspoken belief that way deep down they are different from everyone else.”

And..

“I have an intricate history. Experience and feelings. I’m complex. I read. I study and read. I bet I’ve read everything you’ve read. Don’t think I haven’t. I consume libraries. I wear out spines and Rom drives. I do things like get in a taxi and say, ‘The library and step on it.’ My instincts regarding syntax and mechanics are better than your own, I can tell, with due respect. But it transcends the mechanics. I’m not a machine. I feel and believe. I have opinions. Some of them are interesting. I could, if you’d let me, talk and talk. Let’s talk about anything. I believe the influence of Kierkegaard on Camus is underestimated. I believe Dennis Gabor may very well have been the antichrist. I believe Hobbes is just Rousseau in a dark mirror. I believe, with Hegel, that transcendence is absorption. I could interface you guys right under the table.”

David Foster Wallace Infinite Jest
