Hunger games! I was never really a fan of YA... and then I bought the trilogy and went through all tree books in a 3-day weekend.
I bought the boxset on friday morning, got home, sat in my reading chair... and closed the third one on monday morning at around 7:00 am

I loved the Twilight Saga....when I was 11, there was a point of time when I only read TTS. I found it amazing....especially Edward Cullen. Though now it seems boring....

I actually grabbed the Twilight Saga in a store before it was ''the big thing'' had no clue what it was, but the covers were pretty and I have a lot of time on my hand so went through the series in a week. I ''Liked'' it... except for the second one, tortured myself through it. But I liked it.... untill the whole hype started and the movies came out... ruined it for me

Yes the second one was a torture.....I really had a hard time going through it.

Haven't read much YA book, I guess. Does Harry potter, Artemis Fowl etc come under this genre? Can anyone recommend me some (I'm 24 years old, male, loves philosophical stuffs). Thanks. (:

I still love TTS too!!! I really find the whole Saga awesome....even I found the 2nd book was not that good....one-time read. And I too disliked the movies!! Well....everything, except Robert Pattinson:))Love that guy!!
(Psst....we have a lot in common:))

Yes, HP falls under YA. At least, I think it does. No idea about Artemis Fowl....haven't read.
Apart from these, the only YA books I've read would be Hunger Games trilogy. It's awesome....u should try it!! Twilight Saga is YA but I really doubt you'd like it....
There are some more YA books I've heard a lot about and intend to read...the Divergent/Insurgent series, Vampire Academy etc...

Can't choose between Breaking Dawn and Twilight....Twilight was beautiful in it's own way, the start of their relationship....whereas BD was really awesome to read bout Bella as a vampire and the third part with the Volturi was really really good.
Which is urs?

Watched Hunger Games first part's movie. Felt a lot like the flick 'Battle Royale'.
How much resemblance the book and the movie has (in percentage)?
Currently from the lot of 9, reading Divergent (around 100 pages down). Loving it so far, going smooth.
Twilight is that glittery vampires series, those most folks loathes in despair!? Heard (rumors??) it makes you a bit happy/sad but takes 20-30 IQ from you in return. j/k
You'd give Artemis Fowl a try. Think it comes in the children's genre. And it made me happy as I'm 9 years old! Just like the manga/anime 'one piece' does!
Thanks for the suggestions! (:

There are quite a few. It depends if you want dystopian, Christian, or what. :)

There are quite a few. It depends if you want dystopian, Christian, or what. :) Is there anything philosophical? Prefer more philosophical-thought provoking elements.
Or something hybrid of dystopian, post apocalyptic, philosophical, psychedelic, trance-like! Don't know if young adults fancy those altogether...
Divergent-insurgent belong to YA's which sub-genre?
Divergent And Insurgent are dystopian.
Partials is a mix of dystopian and post-apocalyptic.
I know I read a philosophical book recently. I just don't remember it's name. O.O I'll recheck!!!!!
I've read about 72 dystopian books, by the way. Want me to recommend you all of them?

Nice! Recommend me your top 5 or 10 from those six dozens if possible. I'll ascend slowly...'Partials' looks good, finished Feed by Mira Grant today (think it was a YA one, is it?); sounds like 'partials' may fill its void. But before that if I may take a look at your top 5 or 10. Thanks! (:
Well, for starters, are you a guy or a girl? Because some dystopias are more geared towards girls and some are more geared towards guys. :P
Ah OK, but you quoted my age, 5 posts up! :P Guy, 24..
Edit:- But I wouldn't mind anything that's great; gender inclinations doesn't matter in the world of greatness!
It doesn't matter your age. This is YA Fiction, isn't it? :)
The Maze Runner
The Scorch Trials
The Death Cure
The Kill Order
Partials (as mentioned above)
Article 5
The Giver
Defiance (yeah, it has a girl on the cover, but it's very action-packed so it shouldn't mind too much. :P )
Legend

These are just a few! :D

YA doesn't have an age range? o_O My guess, 18-30!!
That was fast! Thanks for the list. Appreciate it.
Love the Defiance cover, it'll be my second read after 'Partials'. Although, I never judge a book by its...haha
Thanks again. Have fun reading! (:
Oh, it really doesn't have an age range! I know someone over 50 who still reads YA Fiction. And at the same time I know somebody who's under 13 and believes that YA is "underage" for her and she reads adults books.
Oh, they're great books! I'm pretty sure you'll find at least one of them to your liking. Did you know that they're making movies out of The Maze Runner and Legend? The Maze Runner will be coming to theaters early next year!! I don't know when Legend's coming out, but I hope to hear the ness of when it's coming out SOON! :D
Do you know of any really great books? It can be YA or it doesn't have to be. :D
Have an enjoyable read! :D

I've read most of the books in the Vampire Academy series. :D
The bloodlines series by richelle mead are also good...kinda of tie in with VA. Perfect Chemistry is really good too but def a chick book....along with Easy!

I was curious to know what age-range group fall into YA's admirer the most. Then there are the the introverts, guilty pleasure seekers who are afraid of the the light of the generic statistics, so one can't tell! (:
My favorite book would be Infinite Jest; it's strange how people find it more psychological than philosophical. But I wouldn't recommend it as it's as thick as a glued trilogy and it has a history of having break-ups with its readers. I like underrated classics and contemporary philosophical books mostly; viz: works of Camus, Dostoevsky meets works of Wittgenstein, Nietzsche; those tend to bore people.
But hey, if you read fantasy/horror I can recommend you few of my favorites for a start..
In Fantasy:
Malazan Book of the Fallen (1-10)
Discworld (1-40)
The Wheel of Time (0-14)
The Earthsea Trilogy
The First Law series
Anansi Boys, Ocean at the end of the lane, Mirrormask (by Neil Gaiman)
^Around 75 books right there lol! Sure nothing from the lot will disappoint you..
In GNS:
Favorite graphic novel series would be a toss up between Transmetropoiltan (Sci-fi, badass Hunter S. Thompson reboot!) and Sandman.
In horror/thriller:
The Handmaid's Tale (Atwood)
Dark Tower series, The Stand (King)
Odd Thomas (Koontz)
House of Leaves
Blood Meridian (Cormac McCathy)
1984
In Post-ap Sci-fi:
Wool series (8 books + Omnibus)
......
Maze Runner is in my list after Partials and Defiance. Ta. (:
@Som!! You've got to read Hunger Games trilogy.....The books are really great!! The movie resembles the book (I can't guess %....I'm so bad at such things) but I liked the book so more.....anyway, have hardly heard negative reviews for the book. U could give it a try:))
@RuchiShould I start with Catching Fire then? I have watched hunger games 2-3 times already because of Jennifer Lawrence. Yosh! (:
No. Read Hunger Games first. More details. And I'm just saying because, according to me, Hunger Games was the best in the trilogy. Personally I wasn't much impressed with Catching Fire. And if you decide to read the triogy, then DON'T miss the first book!!
Okay! thanks, will do...And Katniss Everdeen shall be visualized as Jennifer Lawrence...Actually I visualize most of the female characters as Miss Jen even in those classic literature ... ((:
I just finished "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak which is supposed to be YA. I would highly recommend to people of all ages not just YA. It's my new all time favorite book. It's a Masterpiece!!!
Shadow and bone by leigh Bardugo high fantasy with a russian backdrop loved that book. The diviners by Libba bray set in 1920's with a paranormal twist on a murder mystery.
Throne of glass by Sarah J Maas strong witty female lead set in a high fantasy setting can't wait until the last book is released.
