Frank (fmorrison42) | 2 comments Greetings,

I'm working on a paper about the diplomacy in the beginning of the Hundred Years War. I currently have in my reference library:

The Hundred Years War The English in France 1337-1453 by Desmond Seward by Desmond Seward

and

Divided Houses (The Hundred Years War Vol. 3) by Jonathan Sumption by Jonathan Sumption

and finally

The Hundred Years War Revised Edition by Robin Neillands by Robin Neillands

I'm trying to find a few more books that discuss the strain between Edward III and Philippe VI. Thanks!!

Susan (boswellbaxter) You might check out Mark Ormrod's biography Edward III. Make sure you get this one and not one of Ormrod's earlier books about Edward III, which are less comprehensive.

Geevee Hi Frank,
This may hold some useful text for you - I've not read it (yet): Peacemaking in the Middle Ages Principles and Practice by J. E. M. Benham by J. E. M. Benham

Also this which comes from the excellent New Oxford History of England: Plantagenet England 1225-1360 by Michael Prestwich by Michael Prestwich

Hope this helps.

Carolina Casas | 10 comments I want to read that book by Desmond Seward and his other one Brief History of wars of the roses. Heard he's got one coming on Richard III.

Brian (brianwainwright) | 27 comments Ian Mortimer's book on Edward III should be worth a scan.

I read his book on Time Traveller's Guide to Medieval London, it was good, will add Edward III to my reading list along with the ones already mentioned.
