I really love the cat a lot. He's so sassy. He reminds me a lot of Cat in Little Bear.I feel really bad for the ghost children and I'm a little excited to see how Coraline manages to get out of this situation.
Still loving the cat!
Wow, I was so sure Coraline would enjoy the other world before challenging the other mother (that's what I get for watching the movie before reading the book haha). If I were her, I don't think I'd LOVE the other mother, but once I got past the button eyes, I'd fall for the place (I'm 98% certain I would be that exasperating easily influenced character in books). I can't believe she didn't hesitate to save her parents when she discovered they were trapped in the mirror-- just shows the unconditional love a child has for their parents and how strong their moral compasses are. I admire her for acting that way even though they ignored her constantly.
When she told the story about her dad taking the wasp stings for her, I wondered where that attitude went. He barely wanted to interact with Coraline before, where is that same man? I suppose that also shows how forgiving and loyal a child can be too.
The other mother is definitely creeping me out. I wouldn't say that it's "scary" right now, but it's certainly creepy. I'm loving the back and forth between Coraline and the cat. And Coraline's character is getting better as the story continues!
Any thoughts?
