I am on Chapter 4, and already the mystery is pretty good. I was surprised to learn that the candles referred to in the title, are actually the name of the Inn, where the story takes place. And, Bess and George are in this one, which I like.
Oh yes, I forgot about that :-) It's been a while since I read this one, but I loved the ending - it was really satisfying :-)
I like it when Bess & George participate in the adventure too - makes it more fun!

"Calculating her speed and the road with precision"... I just love how Nancy expertly maneuvers her car in any situation, even though she is only 18! Also, after being drugged earlier in the evening, she is able to calmly eat a late dinner!
Andrea, you mentioned that Bess & George were both unkind to Nancy in this book - what happened? (I don't remember too well)
The mystery focused around distant relations of Bess and George. It also involved a will. They felt that Nancy and her father influenced the family relation. For several chapters they were cool towards her, and even rude. However, before too long they apologized, and things were back to normal.
Yes that sounds familiar :-) poor Nancy! Did you finish the book already? What did you think of it?
Yes, I finished. I enjoyed it. I liked when Nancy and Ned worked on part of the case together, also when Nancy found some of the hidden treasures.

I finished this story today, I liked it, All characters are having some good role to play in story (Nancy, Ned, Bess, George, MR Drew, Hannah Gruen). Yes even Hannah!
Best lines : I thought : Add more if you remember-
1. Bess looking wistfully at the maraschino cherry which obstinately remained in the bottom of her glass.
2. Asa Sidney gave a mirthless laugh."The only reason I have lived to be a hundred is because I have not died"
3. "Promise me", he(Ned) said, cupping Nancy's chin in his hand,"that you won't disappear again."

I like all of those lines :-) I really connected with the characters in this book and liked the story!
