I managed to squeeze out some time to write, today, and got nearly 700 words down in my latest project, Last Second Chance. Now, to do it again tomorrow!

Ah! I'm afraid my really big number days may have to wait until I'm home again in the winter. It is hard to knuckle down while on the truck. But these GoodReads groups inspire me. Unfortunately, they also distract me! *sigh*

Well. Today is another day. In my defense, my hubby and I just drove coast to coast (3000 miles!) in 59 hours. Whew. I should have some time to write later today, though.

Had a great day today! wrote over 1000 words on the WIP, plus got a lot of great information on one of the plot lines involving the horses. The trick on that is going to be distilling all that great information into concise nuggets that are accurate but yet don't overload or turn off the reader who doesn't care what a Nokota is and what will give it laminitis. I totally feel up to the task, though!

Hey, another productive day - even after driving 7 hours, I got in about 800 more words, and made some improvements to the prologue based on some critique I received. Feeling pretty good, but I need to sleep now. Good night.

Finished proof reading for a fellow group member. Now I'm trying to get back into the swing of writing. Knocked out 500 words yesterday and 250 today. It's something!

No writing or reading today:( I try to do either one to keep the creative juices flowing. I did some character building in my drive home on an old in the works project. Am I the only one who does that? Draft without paper in your head u til it's ready for paper or rework some scene visualizing it until you get that pen in your hand to jot down your thoughts?

That's all I can do, some days, since I drive truck for a living and when I get done with my shift sometimes, most times, I'm to tired to fire up the laptop. But I remember the things I figured out. plus sometimes I'll make audio notes for safe measure.

I'm glad I found this feed. It's nice to know and connect with others that think like me. My day job, you might be thinking? Preschool teacher. Number one ? I get once people find out I'm an author is do I write children's books?

Well, kudos to you for teaching. I personally couldn't handle all that energy. I'm a bit of a introvert and kids wear me out. But that means I'd be one of those who'd ask if you wrote political intrigue or smut. ;-)
It's hard to beat good old fashioned suspense, right?

I wrote 3570 words today. Book 3 is on its way!

I am one happy gal tonight! I am home for the winter - at least until the end of March. Excited at the prospect of getting some writing and reading done. I've been looking forward to it for a while, and now here I am. Yay!

Thanks! I'm still waiting for my hubby to go back out on the road. That sounds awful, doesn't it? But his inability to abide in a quiet house means I have the constant distraction of the TV. Not good for working. But he will be back on the road Friday, and I will have the house to myself at last!

How's everyone doing? I've been reading books I have saved on my kindle over the past week or so. I'm reading for enjoyment during the semi-break from the book. I forgot to come back here to update my list of what I've read. I'm also reading about book marketing/promotions. Still waiting for a few beta readers to get back to me. I'll be off work for the holidays and spending that time reading my own manuscript from beginning to end, then formatting for its release on January 20, 2014.

Glad to hear from you Danielle. I've been squeezing in a little bit of pleasure reading, too, though not as much as I might.

I've been busy proofing a book for a customer. It's a sexy menage erotica book, which is a little spicier than my normal choice of pleasure read. Just sent it back today. It was a pretty good story, with lots of sex wrapped around it. The proofing was a challenge, though, because the author had been led astray about commas. I think we got her straightened out.

I need to get back to work on one of my two projects. The one I 'should' be working on is a murder mystery I'm writing with my hubby, and I'm kind of out of my depth. Now that I'm home I need to research plot arcs for that genre, so that I get it right - it's a cozy, with truck drivers as the amateur sleuths. But my heart isn't in it, so I keep finding anything and everything else to do BUT work on it. I keep thinking 'tomorrow', but here I am.... Heh.

If I can't get into it, I'll go to my other project, a Romantic Suspense that needs a bit of research, too. One character is a veterinarian, the other is a hand on a cattle ranch, so I need to find out as much as I can about the care of cows. Doesn't that sound fun? (Actually, it does to me.)

My holiday season tends to be pretty mellow, so I'm having a good time. Hope you are, too. As for temperatures, we are finally 'warming up' into the 30s and low 40s, after sub-freezing and even sub-zero temps for the last 2-3 weeks. In the Pacific NW, if you can believe it!

I like it. We should all stay warm and read, write AND enjoy! Cheers.

It sounds difficult to commit to a novel if your heart isn't in it. I wouldn't be able to do it justice.

The weather where I live is mid 60's (Southern CA). It's been very windy over the past couple of weeks and I haven't put up any decorations outside. We had a break for a couple of days during the week, but this weekend we're back to Santa Ana winds. I'll have to suck it up and do it anyway. If it wasn't for my daughter, I wouldn't do it. LOL!

I'm going to run errands, then finish decorating today. I'll do some editing after that. I've been playing around this weekend making the cover for book #2, which I haven't started writing yet! It's time to do some work on the current book. Later. :-)

It's not that the story doesn't speak to me, it is the thought of pegging it into a genre that I don't know much about. I think what I need to do is stop worrying about genre and just write it! I mean, that is part of why I self-publish, so I don't have to put it in a particular box.

60 degrees sounds downright tropical! I hear you about the wind, though. I used to live in Portland, Oregon, and we would get the 'East Wind' out of the Columbia River Gorge - 10-15mph sustained winds 30-50mph gusts, and arctic temps (well, temps in the 30s feels arctic when you add wind chill!) Our whole house would shake on the stronger gusts. It was actually kind of thrilling at times.

Ah! Finally got some of my own writing done. 958 words! Don't know if it is any good or not. We'll have to see. I'm at the point right now that just getting words keyed in to the file is a major victory. I'm sure it counts in the long run.

Getting the words written is the key. You can go back and revise later. Good job!

I've been working on revisions and polishing my novel.

As long as the thoughts are flowing the magic will emerge. Sometimes when I'm stuck I'll write and rewrite a part without deleting and then going back to see what flows best. Sometimes I surprise myself and the story will take off in a completely different direction.

Thanks for the encouragement, ladies! I only got 376 words in tonight, but that makes two nights in a row, which is more than the last month or so. Of course, the holiday will put a crimp in that, I'm afraid.

That reminds me: Merry Christmas, and may all the suspense in your New Year be fictitious!

I'm formatting my book for paperback now. The ebook should be on Amazon today or tomorrow. I'll be glad when this is all taken care of. I'm ready to start the next book. :-)

Awesome news!

My Holidays turned pretty crappy when I had a blocked kidney by a 8mm stone in November, then a repeat performance right before New Year's Eve. Being on painkillers wreaks havoc with my fiction writing skills, so they're on hold for the moment.

Ah well, it gave me more time to spend on the GR boards, so there's good with the bad. At least I can still do research, and I published Rogue: A Katla novel in November, so I can take my time coming up with the next novel.

That's quite a mix of (dare I say) accomplishments, Martyn. Sounds like you are on the mend, at any rate. But research time and promotion time are hard to come by and precious when you can have them uninterrupted, so it sounds like you are making the most of it.

Also, now you have another experience to fall back on when you are required to describe excruciating pain, right?

Welcome back! I know you saw my review of Reprobate. I will be reading Pecadillo at some point - I just don't know when as I am being kept busy with proofreading projects. Not that work is ever a bad thing!

I enjoyed your review of Reprobate: A Katla Novel. Most reviewers agree that Peccadillo: A Katla Novel is 'even better' so I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy it.

Feeling like a rockstar tonight. I wrote +2700 words, plus did some research, AND got 2 hours proofing in for a customer.

Feels good to be writing again. I've let my proofing projects take over too much of my time. Still need to learn to budget time better, but these last couple days I've gotten a fair bit done. Yes!
