Im not sure if this is accurate to say, as every single author I have spotlighted this week was very much worthy of this statement, but I truly feel as though I have saved the best spotlight of the week for last.

Most people may remember "The Dirty Girls Social Club" , a Chick Lit book surrounding six women whom have great careers, and all happen to be Latina of different races. For the most part, a book involving Latina women has never been considered mainstream until "The Dirty Girls Social Club", which was able to sell enough copies to be green-lit for movie optioning.

Fast forward, close to a decade later, and you still have the freedom rider named Alisa Valdes. The Cuban American of Chick Lit/Romance/Contemporary Adult Fiction, and she has been one of the few authors willing to stand up to Hollywood, and receive her movie rights back, for refusing to write out Afro-Latinas in her book.

I have followed Alisa throughout her entire writing career. Most recently her blog as shown here:

This author has never been afraid to out Hollywood's racism, and excessive need to constantly stereotype Latina women, and refuse to break these stereotypes.

In fact, she is so hell bent on getting her "Dirty Girls Social Club" movie made, she has started a Kickstarter for the project:

Please feel free to take a look over and donate to the cause! I know I have!

Spotlights will resume every Wednesday from here on out!
