ch27 - so finally we hear kennit's history. and i might have judged a bit too harshly, it seems like it really was igrot's doing to cut out his mother's tongue, not kennit himself.
but can you blame after what he is doing here? and the previous insinuations.
i liked the scenes on key island, his mother seems a terrific person and i loved how she reacted to Paragon's name to start with, and with Paragon himself once she got on the ship.

he is, there's one thing to have it happen to you, it's quite another to just continue on that path.
i know, unfortunately that's often the case.
still really dislike kennit though, such a manipulator!

ch29 - i liked this: She Who Remembers calles Wintrow by the name of Two Legs, but seems to refer to him as 'a wintrow' to the other serpents :D
Mr Mega Manipulator is really seriously annoying me. please tell me someone is going to out him for what he really is to the crew and more importantly, to the ship?
would it be a wintrow perhaps?

ch30 - aha! there we go, now Malta is there too, now we only need Tintaglia and Reyn, and a while bunch of serpents and the party is complete.
Hanne wrote: "ch26 - i'm speechless, and heavily disturbed now"So the abused has become the abuser - Kennit has become Igrot. Now he just needs to die.
His face was beardless now, and youthful. It was more in keeping with his voice and with whom he felt himself to be, and yet it made him squirmingly curious to know he wore the face of someone Amber loved.Fitz maybe?
A short-handled battle-axe hung from it.
“Handsome,” Brashen observed. In a quieter voice, he asked Amber, “Are you going to fix his nose?”
“There is nothing wrong with his nose,” Amber asserted warningly.
Didn't Fitz fight with a an axe - I can't remember if he broke his nose or not.
He did fight with an axe. Not sure about the nose. I think it might have been broken. I don't remember.
yes, Burrich teaches him to fight with an axe, and i think Verity remarks that it's a weapon most suiting his character.
the nose, wasn't that during Regal's treatment he broke his nose?

Hanne wrote: "he nose, wasn't that during Regal's treatment he broke his nose? "I imagine he got quite a lot of things broken from Regal so I can't imagine his nose surviving.
i googled it, and this is from a Robin Hobb quiz:
Q: Fitz suffers tremendous torture at the hands of Regal and his guard towards the end of 'Royal Assassin'. Who broke Fitz's nose?
A: Bolt. Bolt is the guard who broke Fitz's nose. Fitz encounters him again in 'Assassins Quest', and poisons him and his guards.

I am really surprised that things took a turn for worst regarding Kennit, I thought he was a sensible man, but seeing Althea just makes him lose his control. Also where is Bolt gone ?
Also Paragon definitely looks like Fitz now because Amber also puts a ear ring in him and Fitz has one too.
(view spoiler)

i remember in book 1 after just the first few chapters, i was hoping kennit and althea's storylines would collide. kennit was still a decent human being, and all althea wanted to be was free and sailing. i thought it could be fun, sailing off together.
that was just a fleeing thought, and i only got reminded of it now. but this...
"i did it because i could."
"she's a woman. that happens to women allthe time. they're accustomed to it".
that sort of thinking is enough to tear your hair out.
at least (silver lining) vivacia did what paragon did so many times. and the parallel is complete.
