Chris Stanley (christinelstanley) | 922 comments Sorry for the recent AWOL - became addicted to the dreaded candy crush app on my new iphone - and who said I was too old to be a techno-chick!?

So time to nominate some holiday reads. Looking for a theme /genre and a separate group read. Post your ideas here

Thanks

Carol | 53 comments Hi Chris,

Yep Candy Crush is addictive. I've got it on my phone and my tablet and am always playing it.

As it's the holidays why not a summer theme? A book with something to do with the summer, i.e. a beach, holiday, sun, holiday destination etc.

Or how about tying it into the kids' summer reading challenge which is Creepy House and we could read a ghost story or horror story?

We could read a humourous autobiography/biography, e.g. Jo Brand Look back in hunger

Chris Stanley (christinelstanley) | 922 comments I'm quite keen to read all of the books we have featured the month. I have 2 already so off to the library for the 3rd, plus the new "must read"Broken Homes Broken Homes (Peter Grant, #4) by Ben Aaronovitch , the 4th Rivers of London book. I'm going to need more than a summer holiday.

I've always got a few ghost books pending, including a couple Of Francis Cottam, Graham Joyce and a and Susan Hill since that's the way the poll is looking.

Still time to vote for your pick - does anyone have a book they are really eager to read in August??

Chris Stanley (christinelstanley) | 922 comments Ghost is the genre/theme for this month. The Year of the Ladybird, The Year of the Ladybird by Graham Joyce , is my choice from a favourite author.

Do post your ghost picks
