Helen Do you think Patrick made the right decision mot taking the ob in the lab at the end. I was disappointed that he didn't. He had some great friends. I think he would have been a great success.

Helen Yes, I was a little disappointed too but by turning the job down we were shown that he was making progress with his obsessions. It also prevented the book from becoming too 'pat' - excuse the pun.

Anne I was disappointed as I felt Mrs deal might not have got justice - or did I not interpret that correctly?! Does anybody have any conclusions on that

Stacy Wagner A few things, what happened to Mr. Deal, Mrs. Deal and pregnant Tracy. What was the deal with the gender neutral baby stuff that had already been bought etc? I suppose Mr. Deal was arrested for pushing Mrs. Deal and most likely Tracy too.

BOOKLOVER EB I too thought that the Deal story line was dropped too abruptly. A bit of closure would have been welcome. We are invested in Tracey, who is unlikeable but lively, and would like to know why Mr. Deal behaved the way he did. In addition, Bauer leaves it to us to decide what will ultimately happen to these two people. It would have been more satisfying had the author tied up these loose ends.

debra Didn't think author had to tie it up with more detail. To me- author strongly implied Deal also attacked Tracy( he lost his temper) and that it was another nail in his prosecution-more concrete than wife's accusation.

Thought Patrick's attention to detail and logic would have made him a great assistant investigator-police should have made a job offer where his intelligence and perseverance would have greater benefit.

Desirae_nicole Tracy's storty reminded me of the story of the Blue Beard fairy tale by Charles Perrault. I believe there may be a few versions of the fairy tale?
