Yay! While you may finish this one and wonder why everyone's all a buzz about this series, if you stick with it, by book 2-3, you'll be hooked like the rest of us. :) Enjoy, ladies!
I think I'll sit this one out B. I've read heaps of scary/horror stories lately and think I need a bit of a break from the nightmares. Enjoy everyone!
I really want to read this but it's probably going to be more like the last half of August before I get to it. I'll join in after I've started.
I was planning on reading this in August, so I would love to join. I'm a little nervous as I never read horror. I'm hoping it will be okay. I've heard good things about this one.
Yah for more joining in :) Welcome everyone! I can't wait to start this oneSorry your feeling all horror'ed out jeann :(
Haha yes, I need something light and fluffy at the moment! Unfortunately sometimes that leads to awful teeny boppy books :(
I did start the book but shifted to another book released on tues. plan on coming back to this one as soon as I finish.
For once my OCD about freebies over the years payed off, just noticed that amazon helped me along with this series. I've got book 1,2 and 2.5 without spending a penny.
I'll give it a try. Likely to get interrupted with some pre-ordered books downloading (and I don't mind creepy or suspenseful but will drop completely if too much pure horror story, serial killer depressing bloodbath, or too much like X-Files/Supernatural).
Over half-way thru. Still not grabbing me yet but continuing on... I think it's the Perry character, she is pretty meh so far.
I finished it earlier this week and it wasn't bad. The characters finally grew on me a little bit more in the second half and I will probably continue. There is some twists towards the end that make you interested in what's to come.
I have to say I'm addicted already at 20% in. I nearly put it down before I reached 10% but then I reached the first of the supernatural scenes and I was hooked. I'm not big on horror as such and hate 'scary movies' and I felt like (for me) a big wuss reading that part & thinking maybe I should wait til morning.... XD However in the aftermath I'm hooked
I started this book the other day then noticed this Buddy Read. Hope y'all don't mind me chiming in. Wasn't sure what to expect and had read some good reviews. I'm at about 50% now and have to agree with some of the comments on here. If it wasn't that I needed it for a challenge, not sure I would finish. The writing is good and the story is intriguing but Perry and Dex and the other characters are so cartoonish that I just have no interest in them. Perry especially is hard to take. But I will keep reading and see if she gets better.
The characters get a little better in the second half. And the twist in the end helps too.If anyone is interested in continuing with this series in a buddy read, I'm in.
I just finished and I quite enjoyed it. It was just scary enough although I think the first encounter at the lighthouse was the best written. Dex was strange, I think there's something else going in there with him aside from what the author discussed. Ada's discussion with Perry at the end was interesting (view spoiler)
I finished this a little bit ago. It never completely grabbed me. It has a lot of possibilities though. I could never get over the fact that I didn't like the characters. And I agree, Dex was very strange.
3.5/4 stars. This one was a strange one for me. Ive started rating books on their page turning ability; whether they hold my interest, whether I eye roll, and whether I resort to skimming..Sad but true. So I have to rate this 4. I feel like nothing really got resolved, I didnt find it scary, and there probably wasnt enough action, but it didnt really bother me enough to rate it down, I was happy to keep turning pages. I actually quite liked Perry and I loved Dex.
I liked this book. There is a lot of potential. I'm hoping the next books in series will be even better. Perry was funny, and strong, a bit strange but likeable. Dex.... Dex just seemed plain crazy. But, since that is exactly how the author wanted to portray him as, I'd say she has achieved it excellently.

date is tentatively set for the first week of august but it can be flexible
