Well now that we've obviously reached 1000 members we're trying to renovate the group as much as possible!! So if any of you guys have any suggestions at all- big or small, we'd love to hear them!

perhaps an area to discuss dystopian literature that has been made into a movie and how it relates to the book? Better, Worse, or why the heck did they do that?
Thanks for the suggestion, I'm literally making that right now- it's called Dystopian Books to Movies. I tried to put as many movies as I could think of in it, but if you have any more suggestion just mention them :)

*Officially the best suggestion the world has ever seen.
The members are kinda what make it active, and we moderators try to stay as involved in discussions as we possibly can...and it's funny because most people congratulate us for being so active? Anyways, if you want we can make a Debates section or something? That might help?
Haha your welcome Amelia, I think it's just lots of people have stuff to do :/ I'm fortunate enough to have a few hours a day to just purely watch TV, read books, and go on goodreads. Other people have stuff going on....I'm not really sure how to help with that, but if you come up with any specific ideas go ahead and mention them!Hey kt- I like your idea, if you want you (or I) can make a discussion thread called Favorite Book Moments where we can talk about all our favorite moments from different books (and if necessary a book can even get it's own thread!)
Haha, well I'm always here! And maybe if you have friends who are active you can invite them to join? Or try other groups too! If you want any suggestions for specific book types I can name a group to join- some are definitely more active than others!
@kt- I loved the idea :) I'm setting it up right now...Here's the link: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...And Amelia- well thanks for calling us friendly, we like you here :)
Sure, I guess we could do that! Jsut remember, that not everyone replies immediately so if you get involved (or start) lots of threads I bet some people willl get involved. Maybe you weren't joining the right groups- I'm active in at least like 15 groups and they're all super nice :)
Haha- if you have specific thread ideas you can always post the ideas here and we'll gradually introduce them!

Come on. Tobias- cake, you dont know about the thing??? Its kind of like Percy- blue food, or Finnick- Sugar cubes.
I'm still new so I don't if the group has this or not, but I think (we) should have like a challenge section maybe? IdkI just like reading challenges, but not big ones. Like maybe we all read the same book, after we vote or discuss which of course, then everyone writes maybe a fan fiction about their favorite character(s) or favorite scene or even maybe write a poem or short (speech) about a specific scene, character, setting, or even message from the book or author.
Idk I have always wanted to do this with other people! Hope it's alright : )
Haha it's fine Asma!!! How about this- I'll talk with my fellow moderators, and we'll see if maybe in the BOTM folder we'll set up an 'Extras' thread. And it will be to post fan fics, poems, speeches, and what not :)

and I went back and fixed my typos haha xP

Yay! I'm excited to see what everyone would write : )
Ok so, I'm about to finish the gone series and then gonna read the fault in our stars, but after that I'm torn between reading the maze runner trilogy or the knife of never letting go series, which one would y'all recommend first?
maze runner cuz the movie is coming out soon so if u do go see it u will be in the know on what happened

What about a thread that has a bunch of links to authors who are doing promotions? Like when books are free for a certain time period or discounted. Or when new books come out...self-published or traditional, there will often be authors who want to drum up publicity and give away copies of the books. It'd be nice to help authors out...but also get some great new free/discounted dystopian books! Don't know how easy/difficult that would be, but it could be ongoing and you could let authors post their own links as well. Just a thought.

Promotions and Advertising Folder: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/group_...Hope that's what you were looking for
I have a minor suggestion. I know that it's nearly the end of the month, but it is still August... maybe we can keep the current month's reading threads in the current folders until the actual end of the month. That way I don't have to go searching the archives for them. :)
Sure, no problem! From now on, after the poll has ended, I'll add the winning book's threads to the 'Monthly Group Reads' folder under the nomination thread. Leaving the current month group read folder untouched. Then, and only on the first of the month, I'll move it out to it's own folder and the last months group read to the Archives/Past Group Read folder. Sound good?
Hi everyone! Sorry for being so absent, I've just been crazy busy with school work.So I've been wondering how you guys would feel about maybe having a christmassy group read next month.. Is that something you'd like? If you have any other festive suggestions, do share them! :)

Arya wrote: "Guys plz suggest me any nice dystopian. I'm a girl n I luv reading ya especially lyk divergent n testing n fire n flood"You'll find tons of book recs in this thread.
Arya wrote: "Haha..has any1 read..shatter me..how's it??"Loved it! Although, some people didn't like it because they claimed the main character was portrayed too soft and weak. You have to read all three books to get the full theme. Don't listen to the haters! Shatter Me foreva! :P
Riya wrote: "Well now that we've obviously reached 1000 members we're trying to renovate the group as much as possible!! So if any of you guys have any suggestions at all- big or small, we'd love to hear them!"Maybe break the group up into sub groups inside this group.
YA SyFy Dystopias
YA Fantasy Dystopias
YA Paranormal Dystopias
YA Thriller Dystopias
YA Mystery Dystopias
Then, we can be smaller.
a young man who is dear to my heart is going through a troubled time and now is sitting in jail for a relatively minor crime. it's not his first time. i'm worried sick about him and i want to send him a book that might HELP him. i don't know HOW to help him but i know he likes sci fi and i know some YA sci fi has an element of redemption for the protagonist. is this the right group to ask? thank you so much for any help!
jo wrote: "a young man who is dear to my heart is going through a troubled time and now is sitting in jail for a relatively minor crime. it's not his first time. i'm worried sick about him and i want to send ..."Ready Player One by Ernest Cline might be a good pick!
jo wrote: "a young man who is dear to my heart is going through a troubled time and now is sitting in jail for a relatively minor crime. it's not his first time. i'm worried sick about him and i want to send ..."ok i asked my fb group and here is one rec.
Red Rising
Golden Son
Iron Gold
Several characters do the wrong thing for the "right" reason and have a lot of internal conflict about their actions. Eventually things come out okay.
