Uplifting One Life at a Time question

I have not read it, and my friends are just beginning to read it, but I strongly believe in the little bit describing the book's premise. Also, doesn't it seem each one of us must understand the possibility that a kind word or smile....or a simple, "no problem", (considering the general state of wariness and concern many face in America today) could make the difference between life and death?? I know I consider always being kind to those around me as a civic and religious duty.
