Back when I was in REHupa I used to report every mailing about references to Howard, or often just to Conan, that I gleaned from popular fiction and TV and current culture. It was called Howard, Howard Everywhere, and I thought I might start up a similar place here for people to post that kind of discovery.
I'll start with something I saw in "A Boy and His Tank," the SF novel by Leo Frankowski. The characters in the book are meeting in a virtual world where they can take on any appearance they want. One guy comes looking much like Arnold Schwarzenegger. The narrator comments at one point that "later in the day someone called him 'Conan,' in honor of Schwarzenegger's greatest role."
So Conan at least is still known a long way into the future. According to this book at least.
I smiled when i heard my fav rapper who is hardcore underground political rapper had a song with lyrics that referenced to Conan. The hardcore barbarian and not just the film version.

That's very cool. gotta love when that happens, and to know folks are out there reading the books.
