Lilbookelf | 2 comments Been using my Kindle for over a year now; it's very easy to get the books you want to read- I've yet to find a book I've wanted to read that isn't in the digital format. I find I can be reading up to two/three books at a time (especially if one isn't carrying my attention). It's also easy to go into your library and find a book you've read to check out a fact or reread something whilst on the go.

Amy C. | 23 comments I was resistant to getting an e-reader for a long time, but my mom got me the Nook tablet for Christmas & I love it! I still have some books that I have to have in hard copy, so I end up buying them twice, essentially. However, the great thing about my Nook is that I can carry my entire library with me & when I fall asleep reading, I don't have to search for the page I was on...lol

Jana | 6 comments I guess I am just really old fashion. I can not even imagine reading a book electronically. I love everything about books! The feel, the smell,to me they are just like an ol' friend.

They can be quite dangerous in the hands of an extreme book addict. *cough cough* Jess. Anyway, it's quite easy to rack up a rather large bill because nearly every book is available on each ereader and you conveniently don't even have to leave the house. I'm sure Jess could fill you in further on the topic, as she has had a much more recent experience with it than I have.

Jessie | 239 comments Wow Ian. I'm going to challenge you to say one nice thing about someone everyday. I seriously doubt you could handle it.

Back onto the topic of e-readers, try not to get carried away when purchasing books, as they do get quite expensive once you reach about 20 books. I've become rather addicted to my e-reader and only own a few actual books, which are some of my favorites, such as the Harry Potter series. I love the portability and the convenience of having an e-reader, and I doubt that I could go back to solely real books.

I shall take you up on that challenge. I'm making a thread for it now.

Hayley (minidf) | 15 comments I'm about the same as Jessie and K, well except I have an ipad instead of a dedicated e-reader. I'm always reading on it with the exception of my old favourites like Harry Potter, my Rebus books etc. I do prefer reading a physical book because I like the whole turning the page and looking at them all lined up and pretty on my shelf but I'm at uni so I haven't got the space for all my books and it's easier to always have my ipad where I have access to around 100 books and don't have to go through the whole thing where I'm sitting in my room at uni and the book I really want to read is at my parents house.

Suzi | 3 comments I have the Amazon kindle that my husband brought me for Christmas and downloaded the newest Cecilia Ahern book onto it for me. I promptly read that found it a bit of a bizarre experience and thought I preferred the actual physical holding of a paperback, however after spending a lot of time in hospital waiting to have my son my kindle was more convenient than someone bringing me a new book every day and I grew to love it. I rarely go anywhere without my kindle as it fits in every handbag/changing bag and have a large quantity of books on it yet to read. I am thinking of upgrading it this year to the touch but unsure which way to go, Any suggestions welcome (doesn't have to be a kindle)? I too get a bit obsessed with the cheap section on Amazon and end up spending a fair bit lol! However I have discovered some really good books and authors for 20p. I am slightly disappointed though that the local library e-book hire/loaning service is not available on the kindle but widely available on the other e-book readers.

TracyPixel I got the Kindle Fire few months ago and I'm in love. Its so nice to read on and fits in my bag (most books don't) There are so many great ways to load books as well, since Amazon doesn't have a South African shop yet :(

I go from watching a movie to reading a book.

Paige (silentamaya) | 12 comments About a year ago my granny gave me her old Kindle keyboard as she was upgrading to the Kindle Fire. I was a bit reluctant because like many people I prefer hard-copies; however, as a college student I realized that I could possibly purchase/rent a lot of my books in e-book format instead of being loaded down with heavy textbooks, plus I found many of my textbooks at lower prices in e-book format. I quickly began buying books that were not school related and grew to love reading from my kindle, and I also found myself becoming obsessed with the cheap section on Amazon as well as the book suggestions based on my purchases. I still enjoy going into book stores and buying hard-copies as there are many books that I have bought physical copies and are unwilling to switch over and buy on my kindle

Jessie | 239 comments I love reading electronic books on my Nook. Quite a few of the books that I've read recently have been thick and heavy, so it's very convenient if you don't have a lot of space in your purse, which is where I tend to stash my Nook when I'm on the go. Additionally, being a senior in high school and taking multiple AP courses, my Nook comes in handy when purchasing textbooks. Instead of lugging textbooks to class everyday, I simply bring my Nook to school. Lastly, e-readers are very useful if you don't have a great deal of free time on your hands to run to the bookstore every week. Being a 6-day a week dancer, I don't have many opportunities to run to Barnes and Noble every time I need a new book to read. It certainly simplifies my life.

I love reading on my Nook! But I also like to read a regular book as well.

Brooke (brookeluvsbooks) I might be getting a Nook for Christmas and was wondering if it is possible to buy book from places other than B&N and if you can listen to audio books on the Nook. I have tried looking online but I'm not really sure where to look and would love to know if anyone can help me.

Anna (Unquenchable Reads) (unquenchablereads) I have an iPad. But I hate reading on it. I'm asking for a Kindle Paperwhite for Christmas

Samantha (sammgasmic) | 41 comments I have a Kindle Fire and I love it. At first it was a little hard transitioning into reading on it but after a while you start to see al the benefits. You can carry an entire library in your purse wherever you go (which is the biggest pull for me) and after the initial cost of buying the e reader you save a lot of money on books because they are a lot cheaper than the printed books, at least they are most of the time. Not to mention the fact that the kindle store has tons and tons of free books so you'll never be without something to read.

I also like the fact that wifi allows me to do other things like email and web browsing. Also if you know where to get books, you can get loads of free books online. Calibre is tops for converting anything.

I received a Nook color for my birthday last year, and I'm referring that I did not choose a Kindle instead. Barnes and Noble recently announced that they will be discontinuing their Nook line by the end of 2014 - they've already stopped manufacturing the Nook Color and Nook HD. Therefore, I'm a little concerned about the technical support in the future for my Nook. Now I'm really wishing I had chosen a kindle.

message 19: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (sammgasmic) | 41 comments I had a nook but ended up returning it because Barnes and noble or whatever was going through a change in their online bookstore because of going your of business or something and I had the nook for over a week and I still couldn't buy a book. So I ended up getting a kindle fire. If you only want an e reader for reading the paper white kindles are lower in price now. If you want one for more things than just that then the original kindle fire (the one I have) is really nice and I think they're around $100 now that the new kindle fire HD has come out.

Kennedy | 236 comments I enjoy my kindle a lot but i still prefer reading real books. But the only teal books i read are from the library or a used book store.

message 22: by Tammy (new)

Tammy Davis (portia2012) | 8 comments Yes, I started to type in that Amazon has a lot of free books, plus if you get Kindle unlimited you can read as much as you want for $10 a month. The only downside is the books you get from Kindle Unlimited cannot go past 10 checked out at a time, so you would have to return one book to get another one if you have over 10. That is just for the unlimited and not the free books. Your free books can go on forever.
