Rory Pope let out a furious sigh as she walked into the mess hall, her sandy blonde curls bouncing in an angry way behind her head. She was so sick of some of the variants that surrounded her. Hey could be stupid, dumb, reckless. If she were being honest, they were much like herself. But she wasn't being honest, and she hated hem. She was being forced to deal wth the new people, to try and hell them adjust to their new way of life, like some therapist. Fuckin stupid, if you asked Rory. You can just land on a padded cushion and be a variant, it didn't work that way. It was hard, terrifying, painful, and a lot of people died. But the job was her punishment; for picking a fight last week. Her leather boots clunked against the dull floors on the mess hall and she stopped for a moment. Rory turned on the toe of her boot and glanced around her surroundings slowly, trying to find what was making her feel uneasy. There was a pit, sitting in her stomach, that felt danger and tension. Her eyes finally landed on the problem, and it took everything in her not growl out loud or scream all her frustrations. It was Julian Grave. The prissy little presidents son that had fucked up his own life. No one forced him to be that way, he tucking made an experiment out of himself, or so Rory had been told. Rory's eyes rolled when she realized there was actually a food fight going on, and she stomped into the area, her bright hazel eyes glaring between the two 'sides' of the battle. She didn't bother speaking; she just moved two of the empty tables with her mind, since hey, they were made of metal. She put one on it's side in front of the table the siblings were sitting at, and dragged one over onto it's side to press Julian against the wall. "Picking fights already, pretty boy?" She asked, the anger obvious in her tone. The siblings scampered out of the room to avoid getting in trouble, and honestly Rory didn't care.

Julian was close to beating the shit out of these kids. So terribly close. He would've, had a table not slammed into him, pinning the boy against the wall. God damnit- he started to think, but then asked himself why he even cared. Jules could slip through the wall, right behind him, with no difficulty required. No problems, no fights... no fun.

The President's son raised an eyebrow at the perpetrator, dull pain radiating through his thighs where the table intercepted him. When he spoke, his voice came out clear and unperturbed, the baritone not quite echoing in, but cutting straight through, the silence. "You think I'm pretty?" Julian smirked, locking eyes with the girl. "You're quite the charmer." He stayed, promising himself only five or so minutes before he dissipated out of there before things got too nasty.

As soon as the other kids were gone, Rory let the table drop away from Julian. She stared at him with a frown sealed on her features while he started up the regular asshole routine. Her hands wandered to her hips, and she leveled her gaze to him from across the room. Her gaze was completely unimpressed by the snobby boy in front of her. "Figures you would focus on what boots your ego. Didn't answer my question though." She said, taking a few steps closer to him so she stood only a few feet in front of him. "What gives you the idea that you can walk in here and pick fights? We try to be a little more peaceful in here, we don't like war zones." She told him in a cold tone, hoping that maybe she would be able to insult him.

The boy crossed his arms, starting toward Rory at a slow, measured pace. "If you want to talk about peace, go talk to my father." He said firmly, looking her up and down. "And I didn't start the fight, darling. I walk in and immediately people begin picking apart my thoughts and mind." Julian continued to walk until he was roughly a yard away, not necessarily keeping his distance but providing a small buffer of space in case something went awry. "All I wanted was an apple." He seemed angry, not flustered, but angry, muffled under a layer of indifference, much like Rory.

Rory fought tooth and nail to not roll her eyes at the asshole in front of her. "Oh, boo hoo." She said sarcastically, walking closer to him than he had to her. "What did you expect??? The people around here were forced into this lifestyle by your dear old dad. Half of them think your a mole for the 'President', and the other half? They just hate you because you made yourself this way. No one did this to you. No one locked you up in a fucking cage and experimented on you. You're not the same as us." She told him, fuming as she stared at him. A puny crowd had stopped to watch what was happening between them, but RORY was speaking softer. She was telling Julian off for her own good, not for anyone else's entertainment.

Julian couldn't help but laugh. She was so, so wrong. "I'm not a mole. If I was... well.. I'd be keeping a lower profile." The dark haired boy continued laughing, pausing only to idly twist a small, slender ring on his right ring finger. "I'm a Variant, self-made. You're a Variant, and by how you act toward me I'd say through experimentation. While I'm not saying this to apologize I'm saying it to bring up a point: you're a genetic marvel. Why do you think my father would want you to stay?"

Jules exhaled. "And they weren't cages, darling. They were suites, split into four quadrants, with power-muffling, and or sucking, if you will, panels. I know because I helped to design the more recent versions of them."

Rory was just getting more furious. This boy was speaking down to her, acting like what she went through was nothing. She took a deep breath, but she really couldn't handle it. Her hand was curling into a fist, and without even her own thought, she was sending a punch straight to his face, hearing an angry noise when it connected. "I don't know what the fuck you designed, but I was stuck in a cell. Metal bars, shitty locking system, the works. Soldiers ten feet away with their huge ass guns, like I was someone's property. But I'm glad the people stuck in there now are more comfortable." She said to him, turning on her heel to walk away.

Before he could react and dissipate a fist came and met his jaw and cheekbone. It was a strong one, Jules would give her that, but it merely made him swear and look down, rubbing his jaw. After a moment he glanced up at her, but she had already turned to leave. Julian's hand shot out and he grabbed a fistful of shirt, yanking the girl back. He didn't raise his voice, but it was a cold, measured tone. "Don't lay a hand on me." Julian remarked in her ear, "Even if I'm not still with my father I still can find ways to make you get back into that hellhole." The boy let go of her shirt, taking a few steps back. "Not that I would do that. My father's a prick and deserves to die in the most painful way imaginable. I would do it myself if I could get closer than a yard to him."

Rory let out an annoyed grunt when Julian pulled her back towards him. She stared up at him with more hate than she's ever felt for any single person. "Your empty threats don't scare me, asshole. You couldn't put me back there if you tried. And lemme tell you, if you did try. Half the people in this camp would be at your throat in a second. We take care of each other, bitch, and you're just not one of us." She sneered at him, finally swatting his hand off of her and glaring at him from a distance.

Julian had to stop himself from laughing again. This girl was just adorable. "Only half the camp?" He called after her, following. "I'd think that you'd have more adoring fans." Jules realized that he would never catch up with her by walking and so he dissipated, reappearing beside her, mid-step. "Also, I need a tour, and I heard you're the one to give it to me."

Rory held her head high and tried to ignore the idiot calling at her back. She was doing well, and had a fast pace, until the dummy decided to just appear right beside her. It didn't make her visibly jump, but her heart skipped a beat. She gave him a doubtful look "Yeah, they told me to do it because I was the least biased against you out of the guys. But that's not really true any more, so you can find someone else to do it." She told him gruffly.

Julian followed briskly, knowing that she wouldn't slow down. They were nearing the large doors into the rest of the camp, and he dissipated, reappearing in the doorway, arms crossed. "Look." He said firmly, dropping his arrogant act. "I'm sorry. Things got out of hand before you got here and I was already worked up, and accidentally took it out on you. I'd say, though, that you.. well.. punched some sense into me." Jules laughed softly, rubbing his jaw again. "I was a pawn to my father, and because of that I've grown up with a bias against you guys. Me. Us. So, old Jules came out and was a dick, a complete, utter dick, and I promise you that I'm metaphorically, not physically, beating myself up about it.

"So. With all of that sappy stuff out of the way, god damn I feel better now to get that off my chest, can you give me a tour?"

:D

Rory glared at Julian when he stood in front of her, obviously not pleased with the idiot boy. But he was being considers let nicer, so she let it a loud sigh "Fine. But if you mess up, I swear to god I'll get you thrown out of here". She said in a very prim tone. But really se didn't have any power to do that at all.

Jules flashed her a grin, nodding. "You have my word." He backed off, stepping out of the doorway. Julian gestured toward the hall. "Ladies first."
