Preston | 20148 comments My next door neighbor's lawnmower at 8 am is driving me crazy.

Lori S. (fuzzipueo) | 2809 comments The ads on GRs that aren't for books are driving me bonkers. Case in point, the ad for IMVO with its avatars which make young women look idiotic and insipid.

Rick | 15796 comments My neighbor's dog continued and incessant barking is driving me crazy. It's not so bad when I have classes, but during breaks it is infuriating. Why can't people take care of their dogs and give them the attention that they need. No one thinks that a continually crying child is not a sign of potential parental neglect, but no one seems to apply the same sense of neglect to dogs barking. And no wonder it is barking when it gets left outside for hours on end in this heat/humidity.

Being unable to concentrate is driving me to distraction.

[And Distraction is a lovely place. It's full of ... wait was that a squirrel?]

Roger Kean | 17278 comments My neighbors' cats are driving me crazy at night time. Can't they have them all neutered and be done with it?

Rick | 15796 comments Frelling squirrel is driving me crazy because it should be indoors enjoying the AC and eating Nutella™ instead of trotting all over the globe distracting people.

message 11: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Nutella™ drives me crazy because it's too delicious, and I end up eating too much of it… except not in this heat.

message 12: by Rick (new)

Rick | 15796 comments The Complaint Department is driving me crazy with all the notices I get about new post on these silly games.

(Great! Now I have to go buy some Nutella™ on my way home today! Nobody to blame but myself.)

message 13: by Eric (new)

Eric Westfall (eawestfall) | 386 comments Uh, sorry, but the mere thought of consuming Nutella is driving me crazy even as we speak/I type. [humongous shudder accompanied by a delicate "perish the thought"]

Crazier?

Yes, definitely the latter.

Members can change their setting at the bottom where it says "Email me when people comment" which is grayed out if it's active. If it's active click on it to stop the emails.

Additionally in profile > edit profile > email members can uncheck "When I leave comments on other items, follow discussions by default." so that in the future it doesn't default to sending emails whenever you post.

message 16: by Boyd, Hunk of hunky burning passion (last edited Jul 19, 2013 06:58PM) (new)

Boyd (boydwalker) | 2304 comments Likewise you can click that tiny down arrow next to your Profile and go to edit profile —> feeds and check or uncheck "Comment on a book or group discussion board" to set the default on "Add to my update feed" so you don't have to set it every time you post a message. That used to drive me crazy until I figured it out.

Brian (brimadison) | 1 comments This neverending heat is driving me crazy, partly because I can't read outside unless I want to be drenched in sweat. Which I don't want to be. At all.

Tj (bluesmokey) | 632 comments In-laws, need I say more:(

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

Screaming babies. I just babysat 5 kids (ages 8mos 7 years) for 5 hours

message 20: by Tj (new)

Tj (bluesmokey) | 632 comments You have my sympathy Mackenzie! I would have been screaming or crying right along with them.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks. The worst part was that the mom didn't leave any instructions

message 22: by Tj (new)

Tj (bluesmokey) | 632 comments Wow! Why would she do that? Strange. I know I always listed things off even when it was my family.

Where's the fun in that?!?

"I like griping."

@TJ
She told us that the 7 year old knows the routine (no she doesn't) the kids ended up getting to bed like 1.5 hours late.

Preston | 20148 comments Rick wrote: "I like griping."

You certainly found the perfect place for it because you can gripe all you want here and no one can complain about you. Them's the rules. We are sooooo special :)

I remember LONG ago babysitting with those instructions! Really people be the adult.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah. And one of the kids has really bad allergies. We couldn't give him his medicine that he has to take at the same time everyday because we didn't know what to give him

Jennifer (desdinova) Trying to figure out the time difference between US and Britain is driving me crazy. It's 5:47 am right now in NY state.

message 31: by Boyd, Hunk of hunky burning passion (new)

Boyd (boydwalker) | 2304 comments Jennifer wrote: "Trying to figure out the time difference between US and Britain is driving me crazy. It's 5:47 am right now in NY state."

The time in the US depends on the location within the US. If it was 5:47 am in the State of New York, it was 2:47 am in California and 12:47 am in Hawaii.

The easiest way to find out the time here (or anywhere in the world) is using google. Just google the word time and the name of the city or state or country for example right now I just googled:
time london
and it told me it was 6:42 pm.

Keep complaining!

message 32: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (desdinova) Silly Boyd, I know what time it is here in the states! That's why I said US and Britain. Was curious what time it was in Britain for all the fellow complainers there. Trying to figure out if you all go online at work or after or what.
And I did google it. At 5:47 this am here it was 10:47 there.

My cat is driving me crazy. He is staring at the wall with his ears flat . He's making me paranoid.

message 33: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments What drives everyone who needs to know is that India is 5.5 hours ahead of London. How is anyone supposed to cope with time zones on half hours?

message 34: by Lori S. (new)

Not being able to talk to someone about my troubles and problems is driving me crazy!

message 37: by Rick (new)

Rick | 15796 comments It's not the same as in person, but you can always rant about whatever you want here. :)

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

The fact that some people are finally seeing how depressing I am is driving me totally crazy! Dunno why, but these days, I feel so...depressed. 'Course, I am an expert in not showing it. I like to show people I am their old wild-young-free-and-totally-carefree Tinath. But some people are starting to notice, and the fact they keep asking if I wanna talk about it is driving me crazy!

message 39: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments Tinath wrote: "...they keep asking if I wanna talk about it is driving me crazy! "

But I thought not having someone to talk to about it was driving you crazy. Isn't there anybody you trust to talk to? Whatever way it goes I hope you start feeling better soon because we want you to feel good about yourself and others.

Many people get depressed in the Winter because of the lack of sunlight. It's called SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and it disappears in the Spring when we get more sunlight and longer days. Spring is officially arriving March 20th but we certainly want you to feel better much sooner than then.

It is surprising what people can get through and come out feeling much better and you sound like a strong person so I have high hopes you'll soon be feeling better about your world.

Hugs, Preston

It's complicated. I want to talk to someone who doesn't know the old me.
I live in Bangladesh. No such thing as Spring. And it's been all year.
"Strong" is not really what I describe myself as. More like, "Carefree-not-really-carefree".
Thanks.

Best of luck Tinath. I hated high school too.

Hugs, You know who :-)

message 42: by Lori S. (new)

Lori S. (fuzzipueo) | 2809 comments Hang in there Tinath, it does get better and eventually graduation will happen and then college will be that much better! (A fellow high school sufferer)

message 43: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments I never went to "high school" but I did go to a boarding school in Highgate, and that managed a few highlights among much misery. There were times when "real life"—that which existed somewhere else in the world outside of the school boundaries—had become unobtainable. When you're in the midst of it, it seems unending, but eventually it does pass and you come out into the sunshine at the other end. And, if you're lucky, with some powerful friends.

Lori (as usual) is right, Tinath… hang in there.
