Dense forest... Dark magic wavers around here..

Renn tiptoed into the forest. her eye was fixed on a roe buck that had stopped tk drink in a nearby stream. she nocked an arrow to her bow and pulled back silently until her fingers lightly brushed against her raven clan tattoos.

Renn let the arrow fly and it hit the deer in the eye just as a knife went sailing through the air to hit her target. furious renn spun around. "Whos there?"

Renn started asshe saw an older girl jump out the shdows. she frowned. "Renn. the roe buck belongs to us" she said pointing at her clan tattoos .

Jaceyon walked into the forest, he was confident he wouldn't be attacked, but he kept both eyes open and he was ready if that happened. His feet made a soft sound on the ground, and he held his bow and quiver in his back. He heard voices and immediately hid behind a tree, slowly getting an arrow out, just in case.

Renn heard a sound and leapt to the side of the fallen roe buck. she killed it quickly and drew back an arrow as she nocked it to her bow. she heard a soft rustle took aim and fired. the shaft buried itself in the trunk of the tree."Who goes there?" she hissed.

Renn glared at Alexia and said, "this is Raven property now." she looked at the roe buck.

Renn sighed and jumped out of the bush knocking Alexia out of the way. she picked up some wolverine dung and smeared it on both their faces making their scent. the bear gave a startled grunt and lumbered away. furious renn tore the knife from alexias grip. it was wet with bear blood. "Are you mad?" she demanded.

Renn was even more angry at that. "Have the wolf clan never taught you clan law! You know one of the laws is never kill a hunter! it is an offence to the world spirit! if you had killed it you would become an outcast doomed to wander the forests forever, clanless. they give you a week to escape. then whoever spots you must kill you. so," she continued, "you should be thanking me that i saved your skin!"

"You werent born into the clan?" she asked. well she hadnt been either but that was staying a secret. only her uncle and the raven mage Saeunn, knew. "and no problem."

Renn looked abashed. "Im sorry. my father was crushed by an ice wall when i was eight summers old." she paused and lied; "my mothe died giving birth to mr."

Renn bit her lip and took a deepbreath before saying, "umm yes. so never kill a hunter. never help an outcast or else you become one too. always support the clan..." she shrugged. "thats it."

Renn smiled and lied "For 13 years. i was born into the raven clan."

Jaceyon saw the two girls talking and gave a small grin. He wouldn't interrupt of course, it could get interesting. He climbed up a tree, his bow ready for any sign of danger.

Renn went over to the tree and yanked her arrow. hearing a rstle in the folage above she rased her bow, pulling back as she trained the arrow above. "Whos there?" she said softly.

Jace peeked over the tree. "Jaceyon from the otter clan" He said loudly and with a proud tone "Who is asking?" He said raising an eyebrow at the two girls.

Renn raised her eyebrows uneven bangs falling over her dark eyes. "I, Renn of the raven clan." She pushed the arrow forwards but didnt lower her weapons.

Jace hopped down quickly and stood in front of Renn. "Raven clan, interesting..." He gave a flirty smile and showed his bow and arrow "Not the only one"

She glared at him and shot him a mock smirk- she pointed at the roe buck carcass hich se had already skinned and se had hun up the meat to leave it to dry. "Guess youre the one who missed the deer." she retorted.

Jace raised his left eyebrow, suddenly deciding they weren't a danger, but always having his weapons close. He threw himself to a log and glared at the girl. "I wasn't looking for the deer, not hunting today" He shrugged.

"Mhmm. My clan sent me out to hunt." It was unsual for girls to hunt but nevertheless she swung her bow back over her back.

"You're quite the pair, aren't you?" He teased while placing his hands behind his neck, and ignoring the fact that a girl was hunting. "Raven clan and wolf clan..." He made a sound like tut, tut, tut "Your parents must be worried"

"Were not a pair," Renn sapped, and ten se half lied, "My parents are dead so only te world spirit can worry for them."

He raised his arms when Renn snapped. "Just saying..." He stretched and looked around. "I'm sorry about your parents" He said sincerely to Renn, and then turned to Alexia "You too. So, the spot of it, eh?" He half-mocked.

She felt bbad and then muttered, "theyre not bith dead."

He turned to Renn and raised his eyebrows. "Not both dead?" He asked, trying to hide he was surprised. "Why's that?"

"Well my fa was crushed under an ice wall wen i was eigt summers old. my mother- well shes as good as dead."

He crossed his arms, his eyebrows still up, trying to figure her out. "That's...interesting" He said, not really sure how to handle the subject. "I'm still sorry, your dad" He explained quickly.

"Well my mother only gave- ahem- birth to me because sheneeded me for her plans. i wont tell you any more." The truth was, Renns mothe is Seshru theformer viper mage but no one but her uncle and Saeunn knew.

"Fine" he said raising his arms, hopefully she would understand he didn't want to make her uncomfortable. "And you?" He said turning to Alexia.

Renn sighed and then went over to the roe buck she had butchered. she tucked the hide into her pack and thwn took out her food pouch. she filledit with dried strips of roe uck. what se couldnt fit inshe put intoher pack. se tossed Alexia and Jace astrip and put one in her muth. then se piked hazelnuts from a tree crushed them against a rock and oiled her bw.

Jace shrugged "Nothing much. No siblings, no mother, but I have my father so I'm alright" He avoided explaining his mother's death, and preferred to talk about another subject. He took the strip Renn had tossed him. "Thanks" He said smiling.

"Welcome," she said without looking at either of rhem. her dark coloured eyes were focsed on the oiled wood of her bow an she couldnt help but think about her mother, Seshru, a cruel woman that bears the three pronged fork upon her chest… the tattoo of the Soul Eaters…

Renn looked up as she heard somerhing, but decded to ignore it. she went back to oilin her bow.

Jace took his bow and quickly placed an arrow. "What's that?" He whispered standing up. He walked slowly trying to hear.

Renn let out a soft whistle. The growling stopped. "Put your weapons away," she ordered as a black wolf padded into the clearing . "It is a hunter."

Jace raised his eyebrow. "I think I know when to put my weapons away" He said, a bit annoyed she had ordered him.

Renn shook her head and made a lowwhistle. Three notes. The wolfs ears pricked up and it raised its muzzle to the sky and let out asoft.howl. And the answer came- an echo of howls far away from a pack further off. The wolf turned tail and bounded off into the trees. Renn shot the older boy and girl a wavering glance. then she looked away.

"They answer teir own call. its the call of the wild. didnt you know that?" Renn asked not looking at either of them.

Renn watched as the rays of sun filtered through the branches, dappling tetrees with paegold. she sighed and looked away.

Jace relaxed and left his bow and arrow. He laid down again and looked up, watching the trees moving with the wind.

Renn asent mindedly ran a finge over her slightly bumpy clantattoos. she put herface in her hands and lookdd at tforest floor between her fingers.

Renn straightened up. "Did you see its face?" she asked.

Renn shrugged. "But did it have a sort of humanoid figure? rhin? crouched."

Renn swore. "It is a dark prescence i think… though i cant say for sure what it is…" she knewshe should have listened to Saeunn.

"Don't" He said jumping up, two arrows ready in his bow "We should be ready to flee, but also to fight" he said looking around "Don't provoke he, she, it" He said, not sure of what they were fighting

Renn frowned. "I think it has fled. but its enough to put us in danger if it has seen us…" she trailed off uncertainly and cursed biting her lip.
