Maria | 5 comments She's always described as being taller than most of the girls her age. But how tall is that? What do you think? I've always wondered :D

message 2: by Maria (new)

Maria | 5 comments Hm, well, that's a good question :D

Julia Griffis - The Romance Bibliophile (theromancebibliophile) I've always wondered how tall Tessa was as well, however, I don't believe her actual height is ever mentioned in TID:( In CP1 when Tessa and Will go to Benedict's ball, and after Tessa loses her disguise as Jessamine, she is almost as tall as Will in Jessamine's heeled shoes. Will is described as being 6 feet tall, I believe, so Tessa must be at least 5' 8."

message 4: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (hannahroboto) I always thought around 5'7 or 5'8.

message 5: by SHINY (new)

SHINY | 771 comments I always thought that maybe she's around 5'8.

message 6: by Meagan (new)

Meagan | 59 comments I always thought she was around 5'7 and 5'8.

message 7: by Brittany (new)

Brittany (brittel) | 19 comments I always wondered this too, and how tall Izzy is since she is described as tall too. The thing is I am 5'11 so to me, anyone shorter than at least 5'10 is short to me. But women back then were suppose to be short since Men were super tall back then either...

message 8: by Brittany (new)

Brittany (brittel) | 19 comments I mean men weren't super tall back then***

message 9: by Maria (new)

Maria | 5 comments Haha, I know exactly what you mean :D I'm 6ft so 5'7 or 5'8 is not tall to me, but to most "normal"-sized people :D

message 10: by Lo (new)

Lo (darkalleycookies) | 9 comments I bet she was probably like...5'7, yeah, with Will and Jem being a little taller?

message 11: by Isabelle (new)

Isabelle | 6 comments 5'7" for sure

message 12: by Audrey (new)

Audrey ~AudgPaudg~ (audgpaudg) | 6 comments The average height in the 18th and 19th Century was at least two inches shorter than what it is now. The height of the population became two inches taller when the government implanted water purification and ways to get rid of sewage. In the late 1800's and early 1900's, the British tended to be some of the tallest in the world, right above the United States.
Clare mentioned that Tessa was taller than girls her age, then she would probably be 5'7", maybe even 5'6". As 5'7" in the alps is average for a young woman today, and the alps' people are some of the tallest in the Europe now.
This is confusing... I am confusing myself too.

Rossy | 47 comments woah audrey that is quite the detailed answer haha

Areti | 114 comments If you could write that numbers in meters for the european population it will be grate :D

Ray (warrior of randomness) XP | 602 comments I know that Tessa is definitely older

Ray (warrior of randomness) XP | 602 comments I mean taller than Clary

message 17: by priya (new)

priya (gpriyaa) Tessa is obviously taller than clary clary is described as super short

message 18: by ʝσʂιҽ (new)

ʝσʂιҽ (aworldaway) I know Tessa is around 17 during the books and people were shorter around that time, so around 5'8" is about right. That's about as tall as me and I'm tall for my age (which I'm not giving away right now. let's just say older than 11 and less than 15)

wow you're even taller than me! I'm 5ft10.... I think.
I'm 176 cm so I get you!
Still 5'8 seems about right.

message 20: by Monacco (new)

Monacco dunn (lavender3) | 31 comments most people are saying 5'8 but i'm 5'8 and i don't actually fell tall, and will's described as over 6ft, so i'd say she's 5'9-5'10

message 21: by Abby (new)

Abby (huge_bookworm) | 118 comments i agree w/ u, it says she is only a few inches shorter thn Will, so ya, 5'9, 5'10

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm about 5'7 and don't think I'm getting any taller, am I short? lol sorry I think Tessa's about 5'8 or 5'9 but idk. Someone should ask Cassie at one of her signings :D

message 27: by Kristin (new)

Kristin | 1 comments Um, I'm 5' 3". Great I'm a midget. To me Tessa would be 5' 7". We've got to remember that heights in the 1800s was a lot shorter than in times today. But I agree Will is about 6 feet, and Cassandra said she was almost as tall as him so… 5' 9" is as high as I would ever think.

message 28: by Ruth (new)

Ruth | 22 comments Cassandra Clare mentioned on her Tumblr that Tessa was 5'9"

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Hmm she's pretty tall then.

message 30: by priya (new)

priya (gpriyaa) I think she's 5'8 because of all the evidence people stated above. (I'm around 5'6 I'm not sure whether I'm tall or normal for my age though (13) )

message 31: by T.J. (new)

T.J. | 111 comments Yay, I'm her same height.

First time I've actually been glad about being tall.

This is why I'm grateful for fictional characters.
