Jasper glared into the mirror, his reflection matching his look of pure frustration. Fidgeting on his stool, he once again forced his eye to widen, the gray colored contact balanced delicately on his finger. He slid the contact into his left eye. For a moment the clock-imprinted amber was hidden behind the artificial gray. But a second after, a fiery ache spread through Jasper's eye, and the lense fell out immediately. With an angry hiss, he abandoned the hopeless attempt and pulled away from the stool. The piano in the corner of his room caught his eye, and he slid instinctively into the bench, wishing to relieve his thoughts. He tinkered with the keys for a second, then dove into an elaborate Debussy piece, Nocturne.
He played until he could no longer lose himself in the music, and his thoughts came reeling back to him, demanding to be acknowledged and scrambling his mind. Jasper left silently for a walk to the lake.
