I would personally like to welcome all new members to this group. I really hope we will be able to discover new books together. Please take a second to introduce yourselves below =)

My name is Jess and I am relatively new to goodreads. I love paranormal, romance, urban fantasy, and everything supernatural when it comes to books. I started this group so that I could discover new reads with rich mythology woven into them.

Hi!

I joined this group because I, too, love mythology - from all over the world. As a reader I love to escape into other countries, cultures, times and places. As a writer my first novel is a paranormal fantasy set in Meiji-era Japan with elements of Samurai culture woven in (because the creatures are immortal) as well as certain other Japanese myths and legends. I did an *enormous* amount of research, including interviewing two professors of Japanese history, for my book. The next book in the trilogy will move to Europe and incorporate elements of certain Eastern and Western European cultures. I'm glad to have a group on Goodreads where we can swap resources and ideas.

Hi , I am purvi.
Joining this group was a must for me as I am a mythology fan, I am mostly interested in Greek mythology but apart from Greek , I enjoy all myths. It is very intriguing subject and I love to explore on it. I hope I would learn more about Greek mythology here then I have the knowledge now.

C.E., that sounds really interesting! Can you tell me more about it? Which myths? How are they being incorporated into the modern era?

What a great place to come to find more books on mythology. I've been reading more and more lately. I've already made some suggestions. I hope to find and share more.

While I do love discovering the new worlds that authors create - I get really excited when a story incorporates existing mythologies from anywhere in the world.

2. I was just wondering why isn't Egyptian myth not added, even Egyptian myths are very intriguing I must say.

I agree with Ali, I like to read across all genres, but my favorite is fantasy. I like all kinds of fantasy, especially mythology or fairy tale based stories.

To introduce myself, I'm a book reviewer/blogger. But more than that, I am a reader. I love to read and I read really fast, so that means I read a lot... and I do mean a lot. I generally read a book a day or more.
I haven't been reading quite as much lately due to some family issues, but I average about 300 to 350 books a year. I also try to read a lot of what my kids read, so right now I'm reading fan fiction, which is not my favorite. My kids start school this week and next so no fan fiction for a while (Yay!).

Hello! I am Alyssa and I love books. Mythology is something that I am very much interested in. Hello to all! :D

Thanks for having me, Jess! I got so excited when I saw this group. I'm Rosanna Leo and I write erotic romance, but am passionate about various mythologies. I've been reading about those randy Greeks since I was little and have recently begun to explore the myths of northern Scotland as well, like selkie lore. There's nothing I like better than to crack open a book talking about all the old legends.
My own writing has centred very much on Greek myth as well, and I do modern takes on the old myths.

Hi, I'm Joseph...and I'm a mythology geek :) Since childhood I've been fascinated with the Greek mythology, but lately I'm discovering new fields - such as Egyptian (combining these two it's no wonder Rick Riordan is my favorite author) and I'm looking forward to reading books with Norse mythology as well.
My favorite genres include fantasy, thriller, mysetery, young adult and the occasional biography thrown in! :)

My name is Lars Andrè.

I usually read Scifi- and fantasy books, but have as long as I can remember always loved medieval times.

When i was little, we was taught norse, greek and roman mythology in school. I loved it. But since I`m from Norway, I have an affinity for Norse mythology.

When I was training karate, I got hooked on asian mythology, but haven`t read much about it (due to time constraints). Especially Japanese and Chinese mythology.

Norse mythology is the best. Thor!

just added this group. I'm a regular Goodreader and I devour PNR and UF half of my life and I do read a bunch of mythologies regularly like Norse, Greek, Egypt, Chinese, Japanese and South east Asian mythology. Last year I took a coursera course on greek and roman mythology and enjoyed them greatly and I'd recommending it if you want to learn more about it.

I'm south east asian myself, so if you're looking for interesting but unique mythology for your projects and need some local opinion, just PM me.
