I was expecting the Night School secret being partly paranormal (which would also have caused the window opening), and the attack in the garden to have that kind of cause (from the end of the first book, it probably doesn’t).

People say this book is shelved as paranormal, which strikes me odd. I was expecting some, but from the story alone, and was disappointed a bit. But perhaps the next book will explain some of the open questions, and perhaps there was something paranormal going on… Carter is a Novis after all, so he mightn’t know.
