Sevania (sevthedev) | 1572 comments Come on in. Leave your shoes in the mud room. This is a palace, but not any old palace. This is the Ranting Palace. Now, I'm not a super huge fan of old architecture so this is a modern ranting palace, meaning lots of stainless steel, aesthetically pleasing curves, and floor to ceiling windows (made, of course, of bullet proof glass). The wall space that isn't windows is soft and shock-absorbing, because this is a ranting palace and I wouldn't blame you if you want to throw yourself at the wall on occasion.

So, anyway. Rules.

1. Rant away. Caps lock works well for venting anger, and it is encouraged.

2. Language is not restricted. (Is that allowed?) Okay, if you have a rant that's, like, half R-rated expletives, then put it in a spoiler. But some rants really don't work unless you cuss your heart out in them.

3. Sympathize but don't go overboard. Sometimes you just need to let it out, and you don't really want everyone rushing to you to offer their condolences. Of course, I only speak for myself. Make your own rules on your rants.

4. Rant about anything and everything. Book endings? Your life? Anything goes.

5. Please do not try to physically harm yourself or others.

6. Everything is related to the topic in some way. Therefore there is no such thing as spam.

Allow me to rant in a narrative fashion:

Taylor: *stocks shelves*

Manager: How many aisles have you done in the last hour?

Taylor: Four.

Manager: You need to move faster. *walks off*

~Later~

Manager: What's that stuff on that box?

Taylor: *holds up bloodied fingers from ripping open boxes with bare hands* I moved faster.

Manager: …

Permit me to add my rant on top of the current conversation.

Savannah and her big mouth.

She texted me about a half-hour ago to inform me that her mother was now aware of my work schedule and wants to--no, sorry, is changing my plans without my input in order to--have my writing group at her house for the first part of Friday for our writing retreat because she wants me to sleep.

Screw sleep. This is my baby project we are talking about.

I just…it's infuriating to me. I'm not sure how exactly to put it into words. I think it's because I'll be losing out on part of the experience with this kids, and actually missing out on seeing Savannah that day because they'll be over at her house until she has to leave for a piano camp.

Also, I really hate it when people try to "help" by changing my plans. Sorry, doesn't help. I already have structured my schedule to deal with the crazy day I'll be having.

>.<

Got everything to work out. Hallelujah. Savannah is very easy to convince. :D

Though she is being a little difficult right now. She says she wants to write essays for "something she can't tell me about." She says I'll probably figure it out in a few months, which is annoying. Like, if you can't tell me, don't bring it up. >.>

message 34: by Alina (new)

Alina (alinapink-rose) | 1958 comments Nice idea Sev! I have a few things to get off my chest to, but I am going to start with only one for now.

Firstly, I am infuriating so much about my limitations to anything that requires Internet, that it is ridiculous! We literally live in the middle of no where, so we have Satellite Internet. So very strict usage, very little usage, and obnoxious connection.

To add on top of it, my dad decided to take some college math classes, so our internet that we share is really his. We also just left our previous school, to one where we have to spend at LEAST 6-8 hours on the laptops, not counting any other homework and textbook reading.

But back to the point, I REALLY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ON GOODREADS AT ALL!!!! I got so upset about this, that I wrote a paper on it, and my teacher was both very glade and mad at the same time. She was glade that I did such a great job on writing it, but mad that we have to go through this. My mom is going to send it in to the Internet providers, thinking it will help convince them to give us broadband. Because it is from a student who does cyber school perspective.

message 35: by Sevania (new)

Sevania (sevthedev) | 1572 comments That's really cool Alina! And I know what it feels like to have an evil Internet connection :( It's like the Wifi is out to make your life miserable. And it's worse to have a really, really sketchy one than none at all sometimes, because it gets your hopes up and then doesn't work!

SARU. Why didn't I see this rant before? Being Indian as well (and half Pakistani but we tend to forget that part), I TOTALLY KNOW HOW YOU FEEL. My parents really want me or one of my sisters to be a doctor. But it is impossible for me due to the hard work and studying that it needs. (I'm terrible with schoolwork)

message 50: by Taylor (new)

Taylor | 3024 comments Mod
I want so badly to just cuss my little heart out right now, but I shouldn't, so I won't.

Just…work. You guys pretty much know what I'm ranting about now.

I just woke up 7 minutes ago to go to my next shift, and this is the worst I've felt since starting. It's like my 5 AM shift from before -- everyone said how it would get easier, but it never did. Ever.

So I just feel like crap right now. And I don't know how I'm going to make it through this shift today, and then write tomorrow, and then go back to work.

And my dad just came in to see if I was awake and I said "Good morning" to him. What the heck.

*whimpers* It does not help that I still have 17 more of these shifts. I cannot do it. I can't. Why are they doing this to me? This is not the dichotomous issue they think it is. You can give me 40 hours of work during the day too. It's not like you're paying me more during the day, which you should actually be doing for this night shift. (It is standard to increase pay by $1/hour if you switch to the graveyard shift).

Oh, and don't even get me started on how I should've gotten a raise eight months ago, but the store getting bought by another company ruined any chance of that.

Oh, and music. Friggin' music. I don't have the money to actually pay for my own stuff, so I rely on Spotify a lot for that. And since I don't have an Internet connection at work, I needed to try to take advantage of the 30-day membership trial. But because I don't have a debit card, it wouldn't let me sign up for the free trial. That's just messed up.

So I started listening to white noise, which helps me not get synesthetic migraines, which I'm more prone to with how little sleep I've been getting.

But now my headphones are lost.

Oh, and my evil manager will be in at four today, I believe. I don't know if I can handle more of his verbal abuse. I want to report him so badly, but there is no point in getting in a legal s***storm when I'm leaving in three weeks from Saturday.

Well…I have to go to work in five minutes, and I still haven't gotten dressed. See you guys later…maybe. You might be seeing me on the morning news because I'm a fugitive wanted for murder. XD
