A clean book is described as not having swear words, no sex scenes or overtly sexual content, no graphic violence and no horror. What do you think?

Lilian Campbell | 3 comments I totally agree to an extent at which if used it should be at a low level not to take over the whole book.

I overlook a lot in adult material but when I feel like I am being battered by sex or swearing, I just put the book down. I could not get through The Casual Vacancy, it was too much. I just don't think it is necessary. You can have sexual tension without being graphic. We understand about war so I don't need to have the graphic details of a person's head being torn off or face being eaten. I think writers who go into such detail do it for shock value and not the benefit of a well written scene. *My opinions.

Exactly! If well written it doesn't need to be graphic.
