Christopher, Please elaborate on the reason why you think people should click on the link provided. This allows people to make an informed decision prior to leaving the GR site.
Thanks!
Sorry. What we are trying to do is stop the FCC from caving to tech producers and strip several provisions from a law that will, when it goes into effect in Jan require them to make things like set top boxes and televisions accessible to people with visual impairments.
MrsJ and I will have to talk about this, but I'm not sure this is a spot to embrace activism. that's why there's things like credo and care2causes. if you look at our mission statement, the purpose is to enjoy and share books. while i understand this isn't personal self-promotion, the line between issues activism and promoting a particular cause over another is a tough call--and again, we're a book-lovers group.
No big problem, Christopher. Actually, you weren't even the first, it's just that two of these types can be a trend, and we need to figure out what to do. Personally, I do a lot of e-activism so I'm certainly sympathetic_but that said, I recognize a quarter of my personal email are activism ones--I don't want to inundate members with non-book posts. Hmm, maybe an e-activism thread? Or a folder, so people can post in it like self-promotions? Opinions?
