Hi, my name is Cate and I was invited to the group by Marianna. Thank you by the way.I have a Masters in English Literature and also degrees in Psychology, History and Nursing. Above all I have a great passion for books, the encouraging of children, teens and young adults to read books. I also have the drive and desire to see the printed word continue as it has done for centuries, and not fall prey to the digital age we live in.
* steps down off soap box.
Welcome Cate, always happy to hear to hear your opinions.
I agree about the books especially when it comes to children. There is nothing more bonding then sharing a good picture book with a child.

My grandson loves books. I have two shelves at his level, so he can choose what we read. At 5, he loves the chronicles of Narnia and the Peter and the Starchaser books. He's starting to learn to read with some books I have from England, and get a great thrill from making sense of the squiggles.
I'm a children's author and I've written over 40 nonfiction books for children. I enjoy writing fiction stories as well. I'm here because I have a passion for anything that has to do with books for children! You can see what kinds of books I write on my website: www.lindabozzo.com
Welcome Linda,
Your books look great. I am looking forward to checking them out.
Marianna
Don't forget to invite your friends to come on over. Lots of great books to talk about and share.
I'll add your site to my blogs.

Hello. I was hired this "off-season" as a Title I teacher, and next year I will begin work on my Master of Education in Reading and Reading Specialist certification. I'm keeping an eye out for great books that work well to teach specific skills.

Hello and welcome. Please share your experiences using children's books or your own favorite childhood books.
Hi, my name is Shana and I'm from the Philippines. I love YA and children's books. I'm looking forward to the discussions and recommendations from this group. :))
New here. I found your group while looking for new books for my sons. Hope you don't mind me joining! Also, is this board the proper place to ask for recommendations or ideas for finding books for a young reader who isn't quite ready for the themes in books at his reading level?
Welcome Michelle, what are the ages of your sons? Do you have an idea of their reading levels if they are in school? Perhaps we can make some suggestions.
I am a Literacy Specialist with over 30 years of experience and our other members are experienced as well.

Hi,I'm Diana. I was attracted to this group because of the title, Matching Kids to Books. I am a new children's book author, and I love to write poetry for kids. I love more Victorian language, like Lewis Carrol, but I notice modern day children's literature is much more simple in terms of language. I would love to talk to others about topics like this and get their opinion. And of course I would love a critique of my own book. Here's the link to my book, and I look forward to taking part in this group! Thanks! http://www.amazon.com/dp/0991202368/r...
Hello Diana, Welcome to the group. I just read your Amazon page, your book looks interesting and the story seems to be one that children will enjoy. I believe it is one children will relate to because it deals with the issues of fear and imagination. Two things that will never go out of style. I will add it to my lists and other webpages, good luck to you.

Hello all! My name is Melinda and I'm a mom and book blogger. My children are 3 and 5 (today!), so we spend a lot of time reading books and I'm always on the lookout for new ones for them. I also try to make sure I read to them at about one level above their age--I've just started chapter books with my 5 year old. My book blog is at westmetromommy.blogspot.com and, while I mostly write about adult and some YA books, I do occasionally write about children's literature.
-Melinda
Welcome Melinda, Good job reading to the kids! Never stop.
Many years ago I had to read To Kill A Mockingbird to my son and niece whom were in the eighth grade. Although they had claimed to have read it, they seemed to have missed the "trial scene". When I read it to them it was more memorable, even for me.

Hi,I joined this group a few months ago, but have been a lot more active in a few other groups about children´s books. I recently launched my own children´s book, which I wrote for my 5 year-old son. The book is available to download for free over the next 4 days, if anyone would like to read/review it.

I wrote the book because my son responds to stories about creating or building things and LOVES robots. It is not always easy to get an active boy to sit down and focus, but the colorful illustrations and the creation of something held his attention. I think I have to write more books, fast!
Hi all! I'm Janice, a long-time kindergarten teacher who switched to teacher librarian two years ago. I love it! Looking forward to learning and sharing with you folks! ~ jtck
