lol... I was excited to get started

message 9: by Debbie (new)

Debbie Sorry to have disappeared. I started reading If You Were Here. I've read the first ten chapters. I had forgotten the premise of this book until I started reading it. Interesting why Susan disappeared and it appears she did it for a reason since someone is following her and the surveillance video is missing.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Any graphic sexual content in this book?

message 11: by Debbie (new)

Debbie Not so far and ewwww I hope not. LOL

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

Don't you just hate that?

I get the same feeling that she disappeared for a reason... I hope its not because of her friends husband Patrick... I am reading and looking for someone close to them both... and the bad cop too.. it is a very interesting book and I am having trouble making myself stop lol... I want to know...

no there isn't so far

no I have found very good readings that are amazing and do not contain graphic sexual content..

message 16: by Debbie (new)

Debbie I agree Denisa. I read a book by Lisa Gardner under the name of Alicia Scott, Maggie's Man" and skipped through about 50 pages. I don't need it spelled out for me. Ha!!!

message 17: by Debbie (new)

Debbie Have you read the first ten chapters yet?

message 18: by DENISA (new)

DENISA HOWE | 1697 comments Debbie wrote: "Have you read the first ten chapters yet?"

yes I have... Have you?
I am ready to post what I think any time you are...

message 19: by Debbie (new)

Debbie I've read the first 10 chapters. You start the comments. I'm not sure what to discuss other than the fact that Susan is missing and has been for 10 years. And I know that someone is either following her or looking for her.

message 20: by Debbie (new)

Debbie Hello!! Just want to hear your thoughts. B

DENISA HOWE | 1697 comments Debbie wrote: "Hello!! Just want to hear your thoughts. B"

sorry Debbie... I have been running behind I will post tonight (promise) go a head and finish reading.. lets do like 20 chapters or something. 10 chapters isn't very long...

message 22: by Debbie (new)

Debbie Okay, I was beginning to wonder if you just didn't want to have to hand hold a newbie. HA!!! I will go ahead and read the next 10. Your right 10 chapters didn't really give us enough to go on. :)

Debbie I love buddy reads... new or old.. hahahha. It just seemed like the first ten chapters, although good, were not filled with info and stuff to discuss... so I think maybe if we read a bit more each time it will work better...

message 24: by DENISA (new)

DENISA HOWE | 1697 comments There wasn't a whole lot discovered in the first ten chapters, however I do have the characters pretty much in mind. I keep thinking that someone close to her maybe even Patrick knows more about her friend disappearing then they are telling. I think McKenna might have a former drinking problem too...
This time how about we read like 20 chapters or so...then maybe we will have more to talk about.

message 25: by Debbie (new)

Debbie I agree with you. I do think Patrick knows something and is not telling McKenna. I agree, lets read 20 more and discuss again.

message 26: by DENISA (new)

DENISA HOWE | 1697 comments sounds good to me...

message 27: by Debbie (new)

Debbie Okay. Went a little far. I'm on chapter 53. It's really getting good. Patrick surely knows something about Susan he's not telling McKenna. Duh the phone call McKenna overheard. There is some kind of connection with the Mac killing of Marcus and the reason that Susan disappeared. I totally can't figure that one out. Susan obviously is using that prostitutes name, but still can't figure out the connection. And who was ordering the Cleaner his orders? I think it might be the General or Gretchen, Susan's sister.

Every time I think I have it figured out... I don't.. This is a very good read, unpredictable;yet makes perfect sense... I like the fact there are several main characters in this writing instead of just centering around one. I mean there is one main character but you actually get to meet and know many. You will be surprised to find out who ordered the killing... I was completely shocked!!! And I have finished the book..

message 29: by Debbie (new)

Debbie You were right. I was very surprised at the ending. I, too, have finished it yesterday. It was a good story and I liked how it was tied to the crime 10 years ago, but I never would have guessed the ending. It make you think it was Patrick, then Adam, then Susan, etc. I'm glad we read it!!!!

Should we read another? I'm fixing to start Reconstructing Amelia.

I actually enjoyed this very much and have written the author's name down to see if she has any more titles out there. It will be the first week in Sept before I can take on another book. I would love to read another one with you...I have obligated myself to read "The Chronicles of Kismah" for a review on The librarything. The author sent the book and I received it yesterday. After you get through with Reconstructing Amelia, holler at me on the next one or I'll holler at you when I finish this one...
Are you going to write a review on the book we just read? I am...I usually do...

message 31: by Debbie (new)

Debbie That sounds good. Just keep In touch on what your reading. I found the updates page that lists only friends and its a lot easier to keep up with rather than the feed from posts from my groups. Still getting used to this site. I mainly use it to keep track of my books and to sign up for goodreads wins. Trying to do more.

Yes, Alafair has written several other books. I have about 7 or 8 of them, but have only read 3 now. Yes, I will did write a review and posted it on goodreads and amazon. I will get the link and put it on here for you. I'm on my iPad right now.

okay Debbie... sounds like a plan...You said you have read her other books, are they as good as this one? I love reading Lisa Scottoline I got to where I automatically pre ordered all her books; then she started writing with her daughter and they aren't even crime type books... so I don't do that any more...I e-mail you from time to time on what books I'm reading and planning on reading. I would love to read you review... I will probably posted mine in the next few days.

message 33: by DENISA (new)

I liked you review too... it seems we both enjoyed this book... I do think next time we should read like half the book or 1/4th at least so we actually have something to discuss.. I enjoyed our buddy read...

message 36: by Debbie (new)
