Bettie There is a joke that says the Finns have two national languages and are silent in both. You don't need me to point out the mistake in that, because there is Tove Jansson and The Moomins.

Jansson comes from a small swedish speaking enclave and in The Summer Book you get to visit a small island off the coast of Finland.

Jasmin I warmly recommend Not Before Sundown (also known as Troll: A Love Story) by Johanna Sinisalo. Don't know about the translation but the original version is great. Another great choice is When I Forgot by Elina Hirvonen.
