SRP may be over for the kiddos, but that doesn't mean our summer reading has stopped - what are you reading this August?

I plan on reading Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling, and then every Palahniuk book I haven't read yet. I found many of his audiobooks that I didn't know were available on Overdrive. So I am super excited about that because he definitely is one of my favorite authors!

I've heard mixed reviews on The Casual Vacancy - so definitely let us know what you think! Are you also thinking about reading The Cuckoo's Calling?

Cookie (bookcupidity) Hmmm...I think I'm going to start Dead Harvest soon and I'm in the middle of This Side of the Grave.

I just finished The 5th Wave and it has me looking for something with a lot of action...
I could use some rec's...something exciting with good pacing - sci-fi, uf, fantasy, a good thriller? Help!

Oh if you haven't read Ready Player One it has excellent pacing, and is one of my favorites, if not my favorite book ever!

And I am not sure about The Cuckoo's Calling it seems like people are more excited that she wrote the book under a false name then the actual book. I didn't see this same reaction to The Casual Vacancy but I will probably read it when the hype does down.

Agreed, it was good! I read it last month and liked it so much that I bought my 17yr old step-son a copy. Good rec :)

I finally read Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn and 14/15 discs I would have rated it 5 stars. And then all of the 15th disc I thought, "Isn't this over? Isn't this over?" and it dropped to a 3 for me. This may be totally me and my mood and my (admitted) sleepiness as I was listening, and so you should definitely try it for yourself, but I was reminded of this month's "endings" poll that's up on the front page, as I listened to it and I thought...

Well, I can't say much of what I thought, I don't want to give any spoilers. :)

Finished listening to Heirs and Graces by Rhys Bowen. This is part of Her Royal Spyness series. Very lightweight mysteries set for the most part in Britain during the 1930's but I love them.

Cindy | 3 comments YES! That last part was infuriating. Though, good and engaging story throughout.
