David, we are not taking nominations any longer. Books are being voted on as we speak, see the post I made above yours.
Gareth, your suggestion of Paper Towns is great! Carrie and I are going to read it even if it doesn't win, should you want to join us.
Lisa - Nominations are closed, voting is now in progress. Click the "polls" button at top of right sidebar.
So we have our winners!
In September we will be reading PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER, with discussion being led by Kimberly.
and in October we will be reading DEAD LETTER OFFICE with discussion being led by Nia.
I will open the threads for each at the first of the month!

Yay! Can't wait! I know Kira has done some cool stuff with an interactive reading experience for readers, so it will definitely be something new and different.
It is. The author actually wrote it so that the reader can interact with the text and make choices for the characters. I'd compare it to choose your own adventure books of the nineties, except it's for a bit of an older crowd. From the product page:
What’s Cool from Coliloquy: Kira has written Parish Mail like a TV series–there are over-arching mystery and romantic story arcs that extend between the episodes, while each episode has a smaller case that is presented and solved. Along the way, she asks you, the reader, to make several small decisions as you read. These choices do not impact the overarching storyline, but certain combinations “unlock” clues to the series’ mystery, which are embedded in the text.
Kira also asks you to cast a vote at the end of the episode, to get additional feedback from her fans about their preferred love interests in future episodes.
My pick for October is Paul Halter's 'The Demon of Dartmoor,' a locked room mystery that is very hard to decipher -- and put down!September: I'm still working on that.
best, Christine Corretti
Christine, we've already named books for those months. Nominations and polls have been closed for a while now.

Though Goodreads shows a paperback version was published in January 2012, it looks like it is in fact only available as an ebook ($4.99 on both Nook and Kindle). Book availability might be something to keep in mind for future selections.
Hello everyone. How does a writer get to be included in the group reads? My novel, The Bloodlines Project is available free on Kindle from October 4th to 6th and I would love some feedback from the group.http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bloodlines-Pr...

The categories going for September and October (based on your feedback)are:
September - Back to School (school-based fiction / book set in school)
October - Halloween (classic gothic fiction / horror)
If you nominate the book, and the book is chosen as a group read, you will be asked to lead the discussion! Don't worry, it's not hard, and we'll love you all the more for it!
Please do not nominate a book more than once. A book can only be voted on once, so multiple nominations within this thread are not counted.
Only ONE nomination per month per person.
Please be sure to post the title, author, and the month you are nominating it for.
Ideally, you can type it as follows -
August - Room - Emma Donoghue
If your post does not have those three things, it will not be counted.
Are you ready?
I will accept nominations through Wednesday. If we get tons of nominations, I may pull the plug on it a little early, so get them in as soon as you can!
Once I close nominations I will create the polls and let you know when it is time to vote!
Hit us with your best noms!
**Important note: At no time is it acceptable for an author to nominate one of his/her own books for the monthly group read. Likewise, it is not acceptable to "push" nominations or votes within this group. It also follows that "a nomination for a nomination" is not acceptable. If I suspect a push, or inappropriate actions have taken place within the group read nominations or votes, I reserve the right to deem those nominations or votes as ineligible.
