Dana Faletti | 34 comments Did you like the ending of the Hunger Games? If not, how would you end it?

message 2: by notyourfriend (new)

notyourfriend (amemori) | 41 comments I think it was good... The only thing I can say is that I think the ending was a little too rushed.

message 3: by Dana (new)

Dana Faletti | 34 comments I agree.

message 5: by Rachel (new)

Rachel I hated that she killed off (view spoiler)

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

It was too rushed. Everything got resolved too quickly in the end, I think. And for most of it, Katniss was locked in a room. :/ Seems suspiciously like lazy writing to me.

ah i wouldn't know...and could we move this thread? At least put the title of the book in the title or move the conversation to Dystopian? What do you think Cari?

message 8: by Rose (new)

Rose (seekeroftruth) | 2966 comments It was the perfect ending.

yeah, but......i dunno, it just wasn't...

Okay, so it was a nice ending, I guess, with them getting married and having kids but--i mean, they dance over a grassy field that is actually a graveyard? It's just sorta depressing. Like there's this huge battle and all these people die and then woo-hoo the rebels win! And Katniss & Peeta get married! And...it just didn't leave me fully satisfied.

Yea.... There kids are adorable though!

message 11: by Dana (new)

Dana Faletti | 34 comments Yes, it was just okay. But what would you have done differently?

notyourfriend (amemori) | 41 comments Dana wrote: "Yes, it was just okay. But what would you have done differently?"

I would have slowed down the ending a little.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

I am glad that she ended up with Peeta. It's always been Peeta all along. Gale was just a distraction.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Peeta was good for Katniss. And he really truly loved her. :) Katniss and Gale were too much alike.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

I feel like Gale would be better on his own... Single and unattached. If it weren't for Peeta, Katniss would never have married, I think.

message 16: by [deleted user] (last edited Aug 27, 2013 09:37AM) (new)

Wait, I don't think they (Peeta and Katniss) even GOT married, lol. But you know what I mean.

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, true. They toast bread over a fire or something, for tradition.

message 18: by [deleted user] (last edited Aug 27, 2013 11:52AM) (new)

I still find it hilarious how he's a baker and his name is Peeta. :) Pita bread. lol.

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

A baker and a hunter. Great combination. Katniss can go out and scavenge for food, and Peeta stays at home and bakes and watches the kids. :) Hmm, never thought about the gender role reversals in the books.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Well, the Capitol hungered for death and blood and power, while people literally starved in the arena and the districts. To the Capitol, it was a game. The strongest wins.

I found the gender role reversals quite interesting. I liked that part of the book - it was writing that empowered both male and female, without feeling forced.

message 22: by Sam (new)

Sam (Readlovelaughlive) | 4404 comments And the ending... I remember that I was fiercely angry when I finished, but after two years, I have settled into indifference. :P

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeeah... I'm rereading Mockingjay right now. I no longer feel like I HAVE to like Katniss. I hate what Collins turned her into. They were fine in the first two arenas and then suddenly in the third book people start acting crazy. And Collins killed off so many great characters it's almost unforgivable. Like Finnick. :(

Yeah! Cramming stuff into the last few paragraphs was just lame.

I agree.

I liked the ending. It was sad that some characters died but other than that I thought it was a good ending.
And I'm glad Katniss and Peeta ended up together. I liked Katniss and Gale's friendship but I didn't like them as a couple. I think Katniss and Peeta compliment each other better.

message 26: by An (new)

An The ending to the Hunger Games...TERRIBLE!!!

Katniss picks Peta because Gale is far away???!!!

What the heck!!

And there was no wedding, or anything.

I was so disappointed.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

I always though Katniss loved Peeta more than she did Gale, though. You girls don't think so?

message 28: by Sam (new)

Sam (Readlovelaughlive) | 4404 comments I don't think Katniss truly loved anybody. At least, from what I can remember. But Peeta deserved having her because he sacrificed a lot. Although Peeta deserves better.

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Katniss was a real jerk. But I always felt that those two ahould be together. I never actually liked Gale.

message 30: by Sam (new)

Sam (Readlovelaughlive) | 4404 comments I thought Peeta was really sweet and perfect. I almost counted it against him. But I love the idea of Gale, just because I've always been a little biased toward characters who grew up in hard situations.

message 31: by Sam (new)

Sam (Readlovelaughlive) | 4404 comments *cough* Cade *cough*

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

No. I hated the ending. Prim did not need to die. Neither did Finnick. And although the whole time I thought Peeta and Katniss should be together, I hated how in the third book everyone thinks she is with Gale.

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

Totally agree with you, Julia.

Sam (Readlovelaughlive) | 4404 comments I love your *No Oreo is Safe* thing, Julia :D

So what did you all think of Catching Fire?

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

I haven't seen it yet! I've been hearing a lot of good things about it, though. :D Heard it's even better than the first movie. What do you think?

message 39: by Elizabeth, He Satisfies My Soul (new)

Yes, I agree. It was better then the first one.

I'm still disappointed about them taking so much symbolism out of her pin and everything. But in Catching Fire everyone got a lot more screen time and Jennifer Lawrance's acting was amazing! I always loved her as Katniss. Got to see some more of Gale too (poor boy).
