The cabin is located in the forest.

Kayla walked back into her cabin, breathing hard after her run. She looked around at the bland look of everything... Everything in her life was like that, so boring. She set down the bread she had stolen from town on the small counter by the makeshift stovetop, pulling off her jacket by the sleeves. It had to be this way, she knew. Having people around would only hurt them, and she'd just never forgive herself. Kayla changed quickly and went out the door to sit on the steps looking out into the silent forest.

Hunting was something that Micah had been doing only recently.

He was not sure of why he had even taken up the activity. He could only remember the way the rifle felt in his hands, or when he first picked up the bow. The initial intention had really just been to be able to scare people off when he was in the midst of his research, but it morphed into something different. He couldn't be sure if it was the way he felt just that much more superior, aside from his intelligence, to have some form of weapon in his hand. Or, quite possibly, it was the inherited psychopathy from his father, or he need not to say his mother.

He trudged now through the terrain, hair braided back into dual corn rows to ensure that not a single black tendril would drift into his face and disturb his concentration. He was quite aware of an imminent sense of being lost, closing in on him like the foliage that manifested around him.

Kayla leaned back against the higher step, closing her eyes for a while. It wasn't comfortable in the least, like any other aspect of the cabin. All that mattered was that it was out of the way. She had yet to have any unexpected or unwanted visitors, but that seemed to change
Kayla perked up immediately hearing the soft crunch made by footsteps on the forest floor. The first thought that sprung into her head was that the humans had found her. They had seen the threat she posed and had come here to kill her. It wasn't as if they hadn't tried before. No one in their right mind would visit her if they didn't have to.
"Hello?" She called out faintly, a little uncertain. Hell, if they found her, she'd be more than able to protect herself.

Micah froze, hearing the faint resonance of a voice ahead of him. Silence followed the first call, and he glanced around to be sure that it wasn't some sort of animal, as they had taken up the cue to fall silent as well. Lips pursed for a moment, he continued forward, not answering as having pushed it down as a illusion of his mind working slightly harder than usually when he came out here.

Kayla scrambled to her feet at the sound of gentle footsteps growing closer. She pressed her back against the outside wall of the cabin, straining her eyes yet seeing nothing through the foliage. If it really was a human here to try and kill her, she'd better be sure that they didn't take her by surprise.
