I used to really be into this series and for some reason haven't picked it back up. Maybe I missed something but I never understood why people say the BDB are black. Did I miss something? I know they talk with a lot of urban slang and listen to rap music. Did I miss something else in their descriptions.

Normally that's not how a mainstream male of non-color would be portrayed in a book, especially romance. Maybe that's why the men seem so gritty to me. I love them all, and I've only read the first book. :)
I loved Lover Eternal. I was not aware it was a part of a series until after I'd finished it, but I was surely glad I read it--even though--not in the correct order. I loved this book. I love how the BDB are gritty and not the normal, handsome, good looking vamp. Good twists and good story lines.

I can't get over how good Lover Eternal is! It's one of the better books that I've read lately, and now I'm really encouraged to continue with this series, and not let it fall to the wayside like so many other series that I've started.
I'm glad to hear that, Michelle! I think you'll be very happy with the next book. Lover Awakened is all kinds of fantastic, and many readers still cite it as their favorite in the series. Hope you enjoy it!
The Brotherhood REALLY needs to make it to HBO. If they can do it with True Blood, they can do it with this. Just IN LOVE with every one of 'em. Been a fan for a few years now and read 'em all-they are worthy.

I really don't appreciate that despite her borrowing so heavily from hip-hop culture - she refuses to write a black heroine. She's also unwilling to address this concern when fans ask her to do so and she's become increasingly dismissive of her fanbase in general.
Trez isn't going to cut it, either, Ms Ward.

At this point, I've only read the first 3 books in the series. I'm hoping the BDB world gets more diverse as the series progresses.

I used to laugh about the club scenes she would write. She would describe all these industrial/goth scenes but the music playing would be hip hop. I've never been in a goth club that played hip hop. It just screamed "writer completely out of touch".I was really into this story until Phury's book. The last one I read was
though.

Phury is the most boring brother, him and Butch.
Lady Danielle aka The Book Huntress wrote: "Phury and Butch are two of my favorites, although I like John Matthew and Rehv the most."I like John Matthew but LOVE Xhex. Rhev is probably my favorite because of my penchant for literary thug-love. LOL. I used to love Vishous but resent that him and Butch didn't get the M/M book. I feel like his mate is especially an afterthought. Like she is completely first runner-up in that pageant for his affections.
I love Xhex as well. Definitely my favorite female in this series and one of my fave characters of all time. I'm one of those who don't believe in the Butch/Vishous happy ending.
