Dick Francis Reading Group discussion

Hi all, I've always wondered about the ending of Rat Race. It's kind of fun to speculate about what happens to Matt Shore who, if you remember, is stabbed at the end. Does he die? If so, how, exactly, is he narrating the story?

Hi, Susan! I didn't mean to ignore your question. I planned to go look up the discussion we had on this quite a while ago in the email group. Back then we had a member who knew Dick Francis and answered this question for us. She said something along the lines of: "Of course he didn't die. You should all know Dick Francis better than that." And she also gave the fact that he is the narrator as a reason we should have known. :) I can go look up her exact answer if you like. He does leave it very open-ended, though! Much more so than his other books.
