Ellie (theelliemo) Rather shameful. Of the ones I have read, most were so long ago I can't remember them. Brave New World was an O-Level English Literature read!!

1. Wuthering Heights
2. Tess of the D'Urbevilles
3. Tarka the Otter
4. The Name of the Rose
5. Little Women
6. Les Miserable
7. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
8. Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency
9. Day of the Triffids
10. Brave New World

Only 991 to go, then.....

I've never managed to read Wuthering Heights -I'm not looking forward to it coming up on my randomizing list!

Ellie (theelliemo) Must be about 20 years since I read it. Dark and brooding, like Heathcliffe, as I recall, but not a hard read

I don't know what it is about it but I just can't get into it - do you remember Heathcliffe the Musical starring Cliff Richard - surely the worst casting ever!

Ellie (theelliemo) I remember of it, never had any desire to see it! Best film version for me is still the Olivier one, and of course, as I type, I am humming the Kate Bush song

I'm more of a Mr Rochester girl myself :o)

yeah ;)

message 10: by Hilary (new)

Hilary | 2082 comments I'm impressed you've read Les Miserables. I've tried twice over the years and given up each time as I just couldn't get into it somehow.

Ellie (theelliemo) Updating my list, in no particular order:

11. Animal Farm - Orwell
12. Birdsong - Faulks
13. Effi Briest - Fontane
14. A Severed Head - Murdoch
15. The Unconsoled - Ishiguro
16. Nineteen Eighty-Four - Orwell

Still looking rather pitiful :(

It's the quality not the quantity that counts :0)

message 13: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (theelliemo) 17. War of the Worlds

Ellie (theelliemo) I downloaded the app that Tracey mentioned a little while ago, the Boxhall 1001 one, it includes all 4 editions of the list. If I include all 4, I can add a rather paltry 3 more books to the list:

A - The Reluctant Fundamentalist
B - Long Dark Teatime of the Soul
C - Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy

So for current edition, it's 17/1001, for all editions it's 20/1305. Which is an even worse statistic. Goodness, I'm so poorly read!
