Terry was sitting, leaning against a tree. She dropped her face into her hands. She couldn't stand it here. The endless pampering and for what? So some guy could pick her. She sighed her birthday was tomorrow. Soon she'll be thrown in a room to let men have..... No she didn't want to think about it.
She reached into her pocket and pulled out a sliver bracelet with a heart on it. She rubbed her fingers on it. She didn't belong here. She tried to remember, but like all the other times came up blank.
Terry couldn't remember her family or what kind of life she had before coming to this stupid city. She sighed and pocketed the bracelet. Just as Helen ,her supervisor, came into the court yard.
"Terry come its time for your gown fitting." Helen said.
Oh joy,she thought as she got up and followed Helen back inside.

Cass was walking around the courtyard. She had nothing better to do. Normally she'd be reading, but her envy for the heroes of literature was not in the mood for being aroused today.
Precious walked through the courtyard. She loved it here. She would sometimes draw. Some I the girls came to her and she would draw their dream lover. She giggled at the thought.
Thank goodness she hadn't ever had to put up with a man- but she knew it would come, and she dreaded the day. She sighed and pushed the thought away before looking down as she walked.
When Precious looked up she ran into another girl. She yelped her books flying all over. She gasped. "Oh gosh! I'm so so sorry!"
Cassandra was pushed off balance and she landed on her palms, grazing them in the process. She bit her lip and picked up the girl's books and handed them back to her. There was a sad frightened look in her eyes as she looked up at the other girl.
She shook her head. "I didn't mean too miss. I was...I was picking up my books and I looked down just for a second to look at. Them.....I hope I have not troubled you," she looked up sadly. She also bit her lip.
Cass shook her head. "No- I was just, well. Trying to get my mind off this place." She sighed and hugged herself and looked at her feet. SUddenly she wished she was like Axel and his mad uncle, miles underneath the earth in Jule Verne's novel, or flying over London with Peter Pan, or going to some magical school with a bespectacled and rule-breaking Gryffindor celebrity. She pushed the thoughts away. None of that was ever going to happen, and she knew it.
Precious nodded. She was only 15! For goodness sake! She hated this place deep inside. "I know what you mean..." She whispered
She nodded. "It's...horrible! I just want to be like....a bird! Free!" She nodded
"Drawing is m-my thing!" She smiled. "See!" She showed her a picture. She froze. "Hey! That's how I knew I've seen you before! That's you! You sit and read almost everyday!"
Cass looked at the drawing and said, "wow. That's really good." The she smiled a bit. "Yeah, that's me."
"I have always wanted to read that one book. Um..Peter Pan!" She nodded. "I wish Santa would visit us too!" She nodded.
"What does he look like?" She asked curious. She sighed. "I bet I sound like a little kid don't i?"
"Red hair, tousled, and a young island boy in island rags with the amazing ability to fly. He's always accompanied by a tiny beautiful fairy which makes bell chimeswhen she speaks. He name's Tinkerbell." She smiled. "No, you don't."
She smiled and sat. Down and began to draw. A huge smile on her face.
" nope"
She worked. Smiling the whole time.
She worked. Smiling the whole time.
She finished and grinned. "Peter Pan!" She grinned.
"Thanks...my brother taught me...." She smiled and sighed. "I miss him"
"You have a brother?" She looked up at her.
"Wow! Mines 18..if in calculated right..". She smiled.
She looked up smiling. "Precious..." She nodded. "Nice to meet you,"
She smiled. "What wing are you in?" She asked.
She smiled. "He! Me too!" She giggled. "You should come over some town!"
She grinned. "How old are you?" She asked
"Just a year!" She nodded and stood up straightening her dress
"My whole life. I was in the day care and jut moved on up the chain," she sighed
Cassie felt bad for her. She looked down and murmured, "i see. I was sold to the government by my parents. They needed the money."
She shook her head and placed
A hand on her shoulder "I'm sorry....that's horrible,"
A hand on her shoulder "I'm sorry....that's horrible,"
"Don't ne sorry. I suppose the good thing is that I never saw my parents again." She didn't add that the government had killed them before her own eyes because they hadn't turned Cass in as a baby.
Precious shook her head. "I...you always have me okay? I am always here,"
