Jeff B Folks,
I have a soft spot (hard spot?) for cyborgs and am looking for books that feature a cyborg as preferably the main character. I have read an enjoyed both The Knights of the Black Earth: A Mag Force 7 Novel and Steel Beneath the Skin (Steel Beneath the Skin has some 'naughty' parts but it's still fun.)

I find the whole concept of having part replaced/improved and then having to deal with it fascinating.

Can anybody make suggestions of books centering on Cyborgs?

Love the group and keep up the great work everybody.

Marc (authorguy) | 121 comments I don't suppose you read Cyborg by Martin Caidin, which was the basis of the TV show The Six Million Dollar Man?
Off the top of my head I can think of The Cyborg and the Sorcerers and possibly Sentenced to Prizm, which isn't cyborgs per se but does have people dealing with bodily augmentation. The Dahak trilogy by David Weber (Mutineer's Moon, Armageddon Inheritance, and Heirs of Empire) also has extensive implant use, as does the Vatta's War series by Elizabeth Moon. That one also deals with social schisms caused by the use of implants

Jeff B I actually haven't read Cyborg but I do have a copy of it. I'll have to look at the others.

Thanks!

Paul Spence (paulbspence) | 12 comments I suppose it really depends on your definition of cyborg. How extensive does the machine reconstruction have to be?

Is there a percentage? After this, a person is a cyborg?

If datajacks and extensive reconstruction of the nervous system counts, I'd recommend Falcon by Emma Bull. It is a really good book, with a protagonist that undergoes some radical alteration to allow to be a pilot.

Jed (specklebang) | 33 comments Not the main characters, but a lot of Neal Asher's Polity universe has a lot of fusion between humans, robots and AI. Worth a look for you.
