I know it seems impossible but I have hard of instances and even experienced it once. I've read a book I wished I never read. It happens to the best of us. But has anyone else? Why did you dislike the book, would you suggest it to another reader even with your bad experience?

The book I wished I never read, was Great expectations. It was a summer reading assignment for my Ap English class. I just really didn't enjoy it. The book didn't capture my imagination. But I forced my way through it only to find out later in class that I was the only one who actually bothered to read it. Everyone else simply read the Cliff notes. oh bother @.@. Speaking for my Nanny since she doesn't use the internet the only book I remember her ever telling me she regretted was Flowers in the Attic. I suppose for the older generation I can understand how this book could scar her. The hilarious part is I just checked it out to read myself :)
The I can recall that I wish I never read, The Great Gatsby. I had to read it for my literature class in college. As for Flowers in the Attic I enjoyed even though it was a bit scary. I read it when it first came out over 20 years ago.
I absolutely hated Romeo and Juliet. I mean seriously. It's a relationship between what? A thirteen, nearly fourteen year old girl and a man presumably 6 if not more years older than her and their 'love' lasted 3 days, killed what? 6 people - including themselves. Yeahhh... If some guy goes up to me telling me we could be the modern day Romeo and Juliet, I am going to run for the hills screaming my head off. I like living. *grins*
heh I would have to agree with both. I had to read The Great Gatsby in high school and again in college. It was kind boring the first time. But yeah Romeo and Juliet were like preteens when this was written, and ended up deciding to kill themselves. I think it was way ahead of it's time considering modern standards. But over all not a good read either in my opinion.

"Atlas Shrugged." I choked down the whole thing because I thought I should. Everyone said it was so great. It's nearly unreadable. But I agree with William F. Buckley, who said he had to flog himself to finish it.Michael E. Henderson

I agree with Micheal. I did not like reading Romeo and Juliet but I like seeing it in the theater. I have seen it so many times and each time, I enjoy watching the performance.
