I'm planning to read the following:The Fault in Our Stars
The Light Between Oceans
The Mystery of Edwin Drood
Water for Elephants (book club choice)
I am really bad at making reading lists, mostly, I just read what is handy or depending on my moods, or sometimes someone recommends a book and boom! I have to read it, turning my TR list into a waiting list.
In September, I will be on my honeymoon and I plan to do nothing in the day, but lay by the pool, or on the beach with a book! I'm hoping to read Atonement & The Night Circus. Not decided what else yet.

Atonement is one of my favourite "contemporary" book!!! Maybe a bit sad ...

I loved The Fault in Our Stars, I don't think I have felt so much emotion reading a book.

My reading plans were pretty tailored to Perks monthly authors & genres so now I am up in the air... do I continue with those plans or abandon them? I am trying to sort out what I want to keep & what I want to replace but right now, my September books look to be:for our Sea Theme
and either Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea or Moby-Dick (or both!)... will push these to October
for my personal challenges:
poetry -
plays -
short stories -
Trollope - The Eustace Diamonds currently reading
and some mysteries for my other groups:
They Found Him Dead (English Mysteries BOTM)
and Laura & I are reading
My plan for September (need to make sure I've finished Vanity Fair!)
1. The Tenant of Wildfell Hall
2. Norwegian Wood
3. Five on a Treasure Island
4. The Light Between Oceans
5. A Monster Calls
That is quite a challenge for me but I do have a 24 hour flight to read on!

My reading plan for September:The Belly of Paris (Zola-project/readalong)
A Room with a View (readalong)
The Importance of Being Earnest(group read, play)
The Hobbit (genre challenge)
and finish: The Letters of Samuel Beckett: Volume 1, 1929-1940
unfortunately The Light Between Oceansis not available in my German library, so I will have to sit this one out.

I'll read the third and fourth of your list for sue, I still have to look foe Zola's either in a bookshop or pubblic library - not before sept when I'll be back home - and see if I can manage to pick up with Faulkner.

I have no set plan for what I am going to read in September, however I do plan to finish the paperback and hardback books I have waiting on my shelf to be read before I go back at the end of the month. Unfortunately that is one of the disadvantages of having to travel by airplane - the weight restrictions. I may have loads on my kindle to keep me busy but you can easily travel with a dozen books in your kindle rather than six paperbacks in your suitcase.
You are all so organized! I still have no idea what I'll be reading in September, but I hope to get to The Raw Shark Texts, Ready Player One and some Stephen King (finally!).
September plan - I like to make lists with lots of options, but in reality I'll probably only read half the booksThe Night Circus
The Tiny Wife
Decline of the English Murder
The Importance of Being Ernest
The Handmaid's Tale
Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers
The Return of Sherlock Holmes
Jane Eyre
Les Misérables (still reading)
Death Note, Vol. 9: Contact
Death Note, Vol. 10: Deletion
The Beautiful and Damned
Lolita

I loved The Night Circus, I know a lot of people say that there's not much going on in the book I found it to be strangely relaxing and the perfect thing to read before bed. I love Jane Eyre it's probably my favourite classic which is weird because there's bits in it I really like to argue about. The Handmaid's Tale is great as well. I thought it was written in a really interesting way.
I better stop before I start listing all your books but looks like you've got an interesting list to read for September.

September is my birthday month so I thought it would be a good idea to read books by some of my favourite authors. Currently my list consists of:
Toni Morrison - Jazz
Oscar Wilde - Dorian Gray (re-read!)
George Orwell- Road to Wigan Pier
George Eliot- Middlemarch

George Eliot- Middlemarch
Rowena, I have been having Middlemarch on my on my list for so long I'd be tempted to join you if I can fit it in. By the way, I love the idea of treating yourself to a month of your favorite authors for your birthday. I will shamelessly copy that and make November that month ;)

Great list! :-) If you don't manage to read Lolita in September, do you fancy a readalong of it in October? I've wanted to read it for ages but can't find the motivation!

The Lifeboat
As I Lay Dying
Five Go Off in a Caravan

Middlemarch is on of the best book I have ever read - and I had to do it for Uni! Not read Road to Widam Pier. I'd love to, but I don't think to have time in sept. Maybe later

That would be great if you could join me with Middlemarch! And please feel free to copy my birthday month reading idea. Spread the word, maybe it will catch on!

It was a present from my kom whene she was visiting new yourk. So it's in english. And so I also have discovered her not so long ago: even if in Uni my professor was keen in afroamerican literature, she stuck to "old" books and writer - such Kangstone Huges or Richard Write, Ralf Ellison when not Frederick Douglass. Really great authors, bur there's more to afroamerican writing

Becca I'd definitely be up for an October read for Lolita! That might actually give me the push I need to pick it up :)

I may joyn in commenting. I've read it so many times that I quite remember it, even if it's really a complex book, with a lot of different sides... That's what I loved

Excellent! :-) I'll make a note of it and start a thread in the last week of Sept.

Planning never goes well for me, I keep changing my choices. Currently I am reading The Unicorn by Iris Murdoch, have three more by the same author in my list, two books written by Elizabeth Kostova and Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde. Hopefully I won't get distracted by any other book before completing them.
Doctor Sleep, Styxx, Defiance. There are others but two come out that month and one I'll get on my birthday that month.
The four books I really hope to read are:
The Other Queen (I will have had this a year now, really need to read it.)
A Dangerous Inheritance
Harvesting the Heart
You Against Me
I want to get these read before I go back to university because they are paperbacks, I don't want to carry them in my suitcase and waste space.

The Selection complete
Countdown City complete

The Mystery of Edwin Drood complete
The Elite complete
Burial Rites
MaddAddam marathon!
Oryx and Crake complete, The Year of the Flood complete, & MaddAddam

Nice! Can't wait to get my hands on a copy of MaddAddam as well. Are you re-reading the first two or did you wait until you could read them all in one go?
I've just added The Hobbit to my list for September. Honestly, I have never ever seen a book that 85% of my friends here at GR have not only read, but also almost all rated it 5 stars. Dear god of books, don't let it by drowned by expectation!
I've started thinking!
Bill RIchardson, Waiting for Gertrude
L. M. Steadman, La Luce sopra gli oceani Reading now
Miss Read, Fairacre Festival Reading now
Henning Mankell, La leonessa bianca Reading now
Hagena Il Sapore Dei Semi Di Mela
John Dicson Kerr, Il giudice è accusato
W. Faulkner, As I lay Dying
E. M. Forstter, A Room with a View
C. Dickens, Edwin Drood

I would like to try it as well. I went to try it a couple of months ago but I ended up ignoring it and haven't gone back to it since.
