I have a question for my fellow indies who use Createspace. I've used it for paperbacks on my other book + my sister's books. It's easy to format, and I really like it... but I have an issue.

My last book was 70k, which rounded off to 305 pages. This book is 80k, with much more dialogue, and it's unbearably long.

For those who use Createspace, what font/size do you use? I really need to make this book shorter page-wise.

Me for one, do not like small font. You might consider breaking up the book in two parts. Or a sequel.

Nikki, I use Garmond 12 point, and my book is 336 pages. It's the 6 x 9 size. A smaller size book was out of the question.

I like a 12 but would go to a 10 to shorten print length...

It depends on the size of the printed book that you choose, as well. on a 6X9 or larger, using print smaller than 12 looks tiny and tragic on the pages.

On a book 5X8 or smaller, you only get one paragraph per page if you are lucky. I would never go smaller than 10 as that is too much strain on the readers eyes. Don't wanting them getting a headache after one chapter ;)

The book is average length, 78k, which is fairly normal for YA fiction. It just has a lot of dialogue, which prompts a new line.

I've always used the 5.25x8, as it seems to fit with most of what's on my bookshelf. I used 12 point, Book Antiqua last time. It's just waaaay too big for this book. I personally think it could've been 11 point, but everything I've seen on Google said 12 was the smallest to go. I might try 11 point in my proof copy and see how it looks.
