bookcrazedchick | 25 comments I have a quick question to pose to all of us readers out there. This is in no way meant to be offensive or is targeting anybody specifically, I'm just curious.

Do you ever actually check out a book that the author has recommended to you themselves?

I'm relatively new to goodreads and facebook and i've been trying to make new friends and I started up a group, etc. I've been getting a lot of authors who message me simply to tell me about their book and where I can find it. I have to admit that i'm finding it a little annoying. I don't mind if I post a thread about a certain topic and it happens to pertain to their book, but otherwise it just seems a little pushy and presumptuous to me.

What do you guys think?

Again I don't mean to be offensive, i'm just curious.

Harry Nelson You have to understand that we are trying to get people interested in our work. If we don't say something then no one will ever hear us. That's why we're here.

Agreed, Harry, and, yes, I bought a few author promoted books that were fantastic and was gifted some.
