Okay - it seems to me like Scott has changed over the years, but I don't know if there is a good reason (like he has become more jaded or cynical, etc. with his world view) - or does it just depend on who is writing him at the time?
It seems that some now think he is a total jerk (to put it mildly) and while I like a number of characters better, I didn't really see him that way(in the past).

Just curious - if he has evolved through the years, whether I like what he has become or not - that's pretty cool... it mirrors real life. If it is a difference in how a writer views him, that can be okay, but...

Travis (travishiltz) | 196 comments I think they went from the common wisdom being 'Scott is the good guy= he's a boring stiff' to 'well, the movie portrays him as a dick and faintly useless, so we better do something like that' to 'Now he has chucked everything he believed in, cheated on his wife and is now the new Magneto. People will think he's cool now!'

He's the poster child for 'being the good guy is boring, dark and grim is so much more realistic and interesting.'

and don't even get me started on that ugly new X mask he's wearing.

I read somewhere that (it was the poster's impression) Bryan Singer didn't like Cyclops - and in retrospect, I see why they would say that. Scott isn't portrayed well in the movies - and I don't believe that it is the actor's fault.

I'm trying to recall where he really appeared to be the field leader and I can't. Sure Storm was there and had that role in the comics as well... I think that he was there for two reasons - 1 To not completely insult long time fans with his exclusion, and 2 - as a contrast to Wolverine

I really loved that moment in God Loves Man Kills also when Cyclops took a stand. I wish we saw more of that Cyclops in the current comics.

William wrote: " I think his finest moment was at the end of God Loves, Man Kills, where he really said something worth thinking about and actually schooled Professor X."
I don't know what that was - I'm going to have to look that up...

Travis (travishiltz) | 196 comments The cerebro podcast did a great episode on Cyclops.
I don't agree with all their ideas, but man, it will remind you what a great character Cyclops is and how badly he's been treated.

It really got me thinking about the Scott/Jean relationship as well.
