This is a fantasy/supernatural/sci-fi/adventure (you just name it) role-playing game. The story's outline belongs to a friend of mine, the original Crimson Witch, who about 10 years ago lead a similar role-playing game on some other forums. Those are legends of old days, so to say.
This is supposed to be an [ADVANCED GAME], so please work on your texts and characters and create a beautiful story.
General Rules of the Group
This topic will have the general rules of the game, some of them will be repeated in separate sections and topics.
Adjustments might and will be made as soon as they are needed to keep the place in order and everyone content.
Please follow the rules - they are simple and made for everyone's benefits.
1. Please use good language: Use proper grammar, make complete sentences, use punctuation marks, do not swear (you can use your wit and swear in a literally adequate way). Goes for anyone, I'm not a native speaker myself. 2. Please write at least 3 sentences in a post. Better – a complete paragraph. Be a writer and create. 3. Please be nice to your fellow players. Do not offend. Do not interrupt the game of others. 4.1. Make sure you stick to the outlines of this world and common sense. More to it in [The Storyline], [The Locations], [The Keepers], [Myths of the Labyrinth]. 4.2. Make sure you know the plot of the game you want to join. Do not interrupt other players - create a point you can enter their game. Or be invited. (See rule 3.) 4.3. While playing, reply only to the direct speech and the actions of other characters, NOT thoughts or general descriptions. Logical guessing is allowed. Your character knows only as much he saw and was told during the game. Character descriptions are for informing players, not their characters. 5.1. Do not make the game 18+. Kisses and hugs only. No excessive violence. No gore. Keep it tolerant and non-offensive. 5.2. Of course, that does not cancel out fights and big battles, murders and suicides. Just don't overdo with the thoroughness of the descriptions. 6. Do not create characters and story-lines outside the outlines of the world. If you're not sure what to do - ask the Moderator. Use topics of general nature to discuss future locations and plots: [Locations discussion] to create new locations, [Storyline] to keep track of the key points in the island's history. 7. Most importantly - have fun!
Oh, yes, the Moderator is always right, of course. Everyone, who does not follow these simple rules, will be banned from the group. Depending on the severeness it might be a ban for days, weeks, months or forever.
Participation
Everyone on Goodreads is welcome to participate.
- Please create not more than 3 unique characters for the main Quests. You are free to choose any type of character your imagination allows you to. You can have more background characters on Locations outside the Labyrinth itself. - Please do not use already existing book/movie/game characters. You can create your own based on them. - No God-mode playing, please. - The Keepers are the characters created and played by the Head-Mod. These characters have the function of hosts and are important to the story of the world, thus are placed in a separate section.
More to this see in the Character section.
The Game
The game generally consists of two parts: - Quests in the Labyrinth - any other situations in other Locations
The Quests
To enter the game you have to create a Character that's accepted by the Moderator and place a Quest request, stating your Wish. The Wish can be changed up to the moment the Character enters the Gates of the Labyrinth.
The Labyrinth is a game zone that consists of an endless number of different rooms and spaces, each having its unique setting, situations and riddles.
The Labyrinth is controlled by the Keepers - two characters that will lead you through your Quest. Along the way you can ask them for help 3 times.
You can not create the scenery and secondary characters, you can only only affect everything by your own actions. You are the one to choose how much damage your Character takes, as long as it takes any. Logical exception to that is the work of forces of nature your Character can't control and fatal actions of the Labyrinth's inhabitants, if they manage to outsmart you.
You'll be required to safely walk through several rooms like that to get your Wish granted. That is your main goal - move from one room to the other to reach your prize at the end.
In case of a failure the Character will end up back in front of the entrance without a prize, unhurt (well, except for his pride, I suppose).
[*] There will be extra Quests for the ones who claim them first if the Keepers are in the mood to create extra editions. [*]
[!] For narration in the game we use past tenses like in the books. Please keep that in mind. If you decide to use the present tense in a particular story line, please stick to that and don't jump from one way of storytelling to another and back again. [!]
Other Locations
There are plenty other Locations on the island you can play or create and let your imagination roam free.
In this case - you are the one creating and controlling the situation completely. The Keepers are on the same terms as any other Character here.
Only make sure the Character and the Location are in the accepted list (meaning: are part of the logical world of the island).
