October Group Read Nominations - CLOSED
Has "The Jesus Chronicles" been a group read before? I have 3 of them and have read 2 of them. What great books! Is there a way to tell which books have been on the group read list so requests aren't repeated?
Heather, if you check out the guidelines, there are links to shelves for the current year, 2012 and 2011. :)
Natalie wrote: "@Beth: Ok. Thanks. Is t here going to be an additional group read for next month?Just curious."There will be. Cheryl will open the voting for that. As of right now, it's still on the same timing as it usually is.
@Beth: When did you pick the book for next month? Why is it the second book in the series and not the first one? Just curious.
Natalie wrote: "@Beth: When did you pick the book for next month? Why is it the second book in the series and not the first one? Just curious."Natalie, since we changed it around, there wasn't time to do a pick for it, since technically it would have been too late, you know? Or we would have had to have nominations for September & October, which would have gotten to confusing.
Jodie picked the read for September because a lot of people posted that they were reading it in August :)
Natalie wrote: "@Beth: Ok. Thanks. Did you do a group read for the first one."Not that I'm aware of.
Me too :) I don't have any of the books in the series, so I'll be sitting that one out. But since we're switching things up, it'll be alright.
Loraine wrote: "
by Murray Pura"Loraine, I'm a little concerned about this one. It doesn't have many reviews on here, had it been out very long?
Loraine wrote: "How about Return To Shirley Plantation instead?I believe the other one is fairly new."
That one doesn't appear to be offered in hard copy as well as ebook...maybe one of his others?? Goodness, Loraine, I'm sorry to be such a kill joy today! ;)
None of the books from the Jesus Chronicles series by Tim Lahahye and Jerry B. Jenkins are on the lists so I suggest any of those books. These books don't have to be read in a particular order.

Never mind! I think I found it! :) Would you mind checking the list & making sure that's the right series?
Alayna wrote: "Can I nominate Trouble in store by Carol Cox"Alayna, I'm so sorry. I just realized that this one is a recent release - it just came out in June. On Oct. 1 that will only be 4 months out instead of the required 6. I was getting it confused with her previous book!
I'm going to change it to her other one, but if you'd like to nominate a different author's book, please let me know & I'll get it up ASAP.
Sorry about that :)
I'm wondering if anyone would want to read Into the Free. I don't usually nominate, but I have been wanting to read that one for a while & was just reminded of it because it's free on Kindle right now. It's also won some awards and gotten wonderful reviews.
I don't usually nominate, at least I haven't in several months, but I think I will this time! :)
@Beth: When do you plan to post the winner of the nominations since today was supposedly the last day? Just curious.
Beth wrote: "I'm wondering if anyone would want to read Into the Free. I don't usually nominate, but I have been wanting to read that one for a while & was just reminded of it because it's free on Kindle right ..."I'm reading it right now, Beth. It's incredible!!!
I would like to second the nomination for Into the Free. (if that's allowed)
Beth, Into the Free is on sale at Amazon right now - Kindle version is $1.99 and $1.59 at Christian BookDeeper Shopping has the paperback for $8.44
Even if it's not picked for the monthly read, this would be a great time to get it.
Thanks for bearing with me everyone! I'm on my Kindle at the airport and it won't load the random picker! I will do it as soon as I am able tomorrow!
Hi, everyone! I'm a little late, so thank you for your patience. I was out of town to spend the weekend with a dear friend. Now I'm back & ready to announce our October read.
I am extremely excited because we will be reading....
Into the Free by Julie Cantrell!
@Beth: Thanks. I have it on my Kindle. I just have so many other books I want to read this month, and I'm not sure next month will be much better.
@Cheryl: When do you plan to put the poll for October's Additional Group Read up? Also, have we stopped doing nominations for the extra group read month, and if so hwo are the titles chosen? Just curious so I can better understand how the new process works.
Natalie wrote: "@Beth: Thanks. I have it on my Kindle. I just have so many other books I want to read this month, and I'm not sure next month will be much better."I will be making space for this one because I have been wanting to read it a long time :)

Just..."I try and shoot for the 20th of the month for the poll for the additional group read. Sometimes I am a few days late as like Jodie says- life can get in the way (I'm a busy mom to 4) but generally look for the poll to be up on the 20th of each month for the following month. If you have suggestions for titles that would like to see on the list, please feel free to message me privately. I generally like to put several different genre's on the list for a variety of choices.

Looking forward to it.
I've got this on my Kindle and I've heard lots of great things about this book, so I'll have to make time for it next month :)

Ordered it today.
I am new here. Have never participated in a group read. Could someone fill me in on what is required or how to participate. I have this book, and have not read it yet, so think I would enjoy joining in. Thanks.
Hi Amy and welcome! Here is a link to the guidelines to help you out - http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1.... But in a nutshell for this particular read. You can read it anytime in September and discussion will open up on the book in October. So on October 1st look for a discussion thread to open up so that all who read it can join in.
