Anybody want to recommend some books to each other? Here's a few that I think are pretty awesome that I'd like to share

Wool

The Brothers Karamazov warning: heavy reading

Ender's Game read this before the movie comes out

Cloud Atlas such a good book

House of Leaves weeirrrddd boook, but awesome

The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle Magic Realism - Japanese Author - weird/awesome... very interesting.

Court Ellyn | 3 comments Ooo, hey, I read Wool this summer and wrote a review on it on my blogs. It was a good short read. Have you read the whole series or just the first novella?

I'm going to add for our literary readers:

The Help

The Bonesetter's Daughter

Both of these focus heavily on women, but I would hope men would appreciate them too, for cultural aspects if nothing else.

I bought the Wool Omnibus but I don't think that's the whole series. I really liked it a lot so I'm thinking about trying to find the others to read soon. The Bonesetter's Daughter looks very interesting! Thanks for sharing that.

I think I might have seen the movie adaptation of The Help, but I'm not positive. I bet the movie is better.

Court Ellyn | 3 comments Actually, the movie version of The Help was the closest adaptation of a novel I have ever seen. Both were fantastic. Blows me away that those events happened only a little more than decade before I was born. Can't imagine thinking that way.

And, yes, I'm excited to see how closely the movie version of Ender's Game will be. Hope they don't ruin it.

I know! Me too. I really loved that book when I was in school and I just re-read it recently again. I'm really excited. There was a AMA (ask me anything interview) on Reddit with Asa Butterfield, who plays Ender in the movie. Judging by what he says about the movie, I'm thinking it's going to be good.

This was a really awesome book. Very character driven and unique.

Malice and Havoc were completely fantastic graphic novels. Well, half-novel, half-graphic novel, really.

Loved Wool, the first one. I'm looking forward to the day I actually have time enough to read the next one. Lol! Ah, reading without interruptions. Such erstwhile yearnings, I tell you!
