Phil | 11846 comments Oh my fecking spaghetti monster!

This isn't quite the town where I live, but it's the biggest metro area around, and is just next door. I'd like to believe this level of ignorance is unachievable but, nearly every week, new evidence comes to light and slaps me in the face.

Today it was a rally on a local overpass to impeach President Obama.

I need to take a bath to wash off any stupidity that may have attached to me from reading that, and from living amidst it.

Did the same thing happen near you? The organizers are claiming rallies in 30 states.

Pat (patb37) I did not hear about anything like this in my area, but I have been kind of unplugged for 2 days.

So why do they think there is grounds for impeachment? The article vaguely refers to illegal activities. Last I heard it is not illegal to be black and be president.
If they want change, they should remember we have an election in a few years, and they can vote for all the change they want.

I am very frustrated that the crazy have become so mainstream, and with the sloppy reporting that seems to be a big part of the extremist echo chamber.

We are in the middle of, well really, the end of our election process now. We vote for Prime Minister on Saturday. There is nothing like an election to bring out the nut cases. There is nothing exciting/stupid happening in 'my town' as it is a safe Liberal seat. No shenanigans, demonstrations, nothing. Aussies are too lay back to demonstrate about anything.

We are expecting a change of government. The current incumbent is a totally self absorbed nutter. The closer we get to election day the nuttier he becomes. I am expecting a total mental breakdown when he loses as he will no longer be the centre of attention.

It is like the British system. The general populous think they vote in a person rather then a party and get pretty miffed when the PM changes mid term.

Which is what has happened within the last two terms. The current PM got tossed out by his party about 4 years ago because he was such a pain in the backside. He then spent the next 4 years putting the knife into his replacement. The general populous forgot how bad he was and about 4 months ago he slimed his way back. The current election process has reminded everyone what a dirt bag he is. We are 99.9% certain of a change of government. I don't normally pay too much attention to politics as the parties are so closely aligned it is hard to tell them apart. The thing that has pleased me the most is the person who took over from the current weasel was female, while I don't necessarily think she was a good leader, she showed an enormous amount of courage and an amazing amount of dignity in defeat. Something very few of our past leaders have shown.

The current election process has been very entertaining.

Our town mayor is a goat.

Then at least he shouldn't be corruptible!

CD | 1577 comments When I hear someone complaining loudly about the President (be the current holder of the office Dem or Rep), I quickly remind them that if impeached then, the Vice President is now in charge.

Usually works pretty quickly to shut them up. Worked for Bush and it has worked so far for President Obama. Of course some VP's are better choices than others, but they good ones usually have come with a good President.

Phil | 11846 comments In general, when talking about the possibility of impeaching the president, one should have a REASON for doing so, other than, "he's black" or "he's of the other party."

Fucking idiots. And many of them live in this town, so I'm still on-topic. :)

Oprah Winfrey is proof of that.
