Tomb (tombsv) | 21 comments We have a huge collection of books in the shelf now and I haven't read them all. So was wondering your favorite picks and why.

Great question! I'm really far behind myself. This is mostly because I refuse to buy a book new so I have to wait until I can find a used copy, and sometimes the books they choose are brand new so it can take a little while to find a used copy.

I would say the book that surprised me the most was Feed by Mira Grant. I was skeptical going into it because I can't handle zombies, but I was a wreck at the end of that book. I've never gone back to pick up the rest of the trilogy and I really should sometime.

Going back through the bookshelf, I actually haven't enjoyed that many of the books. My star rating is definitely on the lower end of the spectrum, with a number of 2-star books and only a few 4 and 5-star books. You can see my bookshelf and star rating easily here.

I still have a lot to catch up on though.

Edit: Oh wait! I totally forgot about The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms! I LOVED that book. Yet again I haven't gone back to finish the trilogy, though. Someday!

Tomb (tombsv) | 21 comments I read the synopsis of that book. But it kinda just felt like just another dull ride. Maybe you could explain more why the book is so good?

Feed? Or The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms?

Feed was awesome because it took a completely different approach to the zombie apocalypse. Society was still functioning, more or less, and it takes place during a presidential campaign. The zombies were around but weren't really the bad guys, it was humans who were more evil.

Also the scene with zombie horse aftermath was omg terrifying.

The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms was, I hate to say this but I think it's true, more geared towards women. The love interest caught my eye right away and I wanted to know what was going to happen. The imagery of the city in the clouds was also really cool. I read this book in a feverish 24-hour period because I couldn't put it down, I liked it so much.
