David Lancaster (davelancaster) | 12 comments I was just on vacation in Canada. I stopped at a Co-op gas station/mini-mart to use the restroom and get something to eat. On the book/magazine rack, there was a book that had that title. At least I think that was the title. And the authors name started with Ryan Mc??? Can't remember the rest of it. It looked like a good book. Had a person(woman?) in the ocean near the surface, but there were octopus or squid tentacles reaching up. I should have wrote it down!!! Can anyone help here? Thank You!

David Lancaster (davelancaster) | 12 comments Anyone? :)

Jayme | 159 comments Do you have any details? Maybe read the synopsis on the back of the book? There are a few series with the word "fallen" in the them, but aren't written by a Ryan Mc-something. Fallen, Gardens of the Moon, Fallen...probably not any help, but worth a shot!

David Lancaster (davelancaster) | 12 comments It had to do with something 'from the deep' of the ocean. The cover showed a woman in the ocean, with tentacles coming up from the bottom of the ocean, and along the bottom of the book. Thanks for replying Jayme. :)

David--people are looking, but so far no one has known the title. If you look at the title of your thread, you'll see a tiny little number with the word Views next to it.

When I came in, I was viewer #20.

David Lancaster (davelancaster) | 12 comments Thank you Ann. :) I appreciate that.

Was it a mass market paperback? I'm going to guess mini-marts don't sell hardbacks, but things could be different in Canada.

Possibly The Fallen by Jassy Mackenzie? It has a woman in the ocean on the cover and involves a scuba diving trip and a murder. Hardcover pub. in 2012, paperback in 2013.

David Lancaster (davelancaster) | 12 comments That sounds like a good book. But the one I'm looking for had a 'full' pic of a woman swimming, and tentacles along the bottom, sort of reaching up towards the woman. And the authors name, which is all I can remember, started with Ryan Mc-something. Thank you Lobstergirl! :)

There is a Listopia list for everything!

David Lancaster (davelancaster) | 12 comments Darn! Not on the list! I'll find this book yet! Maybe it's time to call that co-op store and ask them! Thanks Kris!

David Lancaster (davelancaster) | 12 comments If there is any Canadian GoodReaders out there in the Austin, Manitoba area: PLEASE stop at the Co-Op/Subway store on TCHwy 1 & Tower Line Road. Go to the book/magazine rack, and find the complete title and author name for this book...PLEASE! I live in Las Vegas, and I can't get back up there! I think this book might be from an Indie Canadian book distributor/Publisher. I know...I shoulda bought the book when I was there! Thank You!

Darcy (drokka) | 211 comments hahah, it was no problem. And Kris, it helped that you located the number. Did you know Subway is open at 7am there?

Hope you enjoy the book David. :)

David Lancaster (davelancaster) | 12 comments I could have sworn there was a girl swimming on the cover though. And the name was Mc-something. But the description sounds right. Wife was in the bathroom...only had a couple minutes to look at it...so...
Thanks to everyone who helped here, to all who even looked at the post I thank, and let's all give Darcy 3-cheers!!!

Thanks Kris! But the store I actually went to was a little west of here on Tower Line Road. I remember it because my wife was enthralled with the actual working phone booth they had outside by where you drive in. lol!

Hum, looks like someone took an old 60's or 70's sci-fi book that I read and updated it from sci-fi to horror. I might have to read this just to see how it's different. (And, because I have the beginnings of a migraine right now, I can't think what the old one was--but it was written by one of the "greats.")

I've shelved your book and moved this down to Solved for you David.

David Lancaster (davelancaster) | 12 comments Thank You Ann. And I had a GREAT time in Canada Kris. I have an Aunt & Uncle in Brandon, MB. Visited with them for about 4 days. Then went to Winnipeg for a couple days. Walked around The Forks, and took the boat ride on the Red & Assiniboine Rivers. Then went to Toronto for a couple days, and then Niagara Falls for a day. After that, it was back to the states over the Rainbow Bridge, and to Syracuse. We stayed at a hotel there, so we could drive down to Cooperstown, NY, to go to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Flew back this past sunday, the 18th, to Las Vegas. I already miss Canada! Will definitely be going again soon!

That's quite a road trip! My only memory of Manitoba are the "Orbits". Too bad they've disappeared. You'd see signs on the TransCanada Highway "Next Orbit in 20 seconds", "Next Orbit in 10 seconds", and then nothing. Curiously, the signs would reappear after awhile. Finally, you'd think "Are they talking about those white round things??" Yep, Orbits where these large eyeball-shaped garbage cans. You were supposed to put your trash into Orbit. Not surprisingly, these strange objects started to emerge during the early years of the space program.
