Remember Eragon? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZRHO0... Released in 2006, a story about a young boy who had found a dragon's egg. The film is based on the Inheritence Cycle but unfortunately, it doesn't seem like there will be any sequels.
Another film to join this category is the Golden Compass, released in 2007, based on The Golden Compass. Unfortunately that's another series that won't be picked up anytime soon.

For a while there we thought Percy Jackson would be another film adaptation that would not adapt the whole series but 3 years after the release of the first film, we see part 2 being released.
