Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) 5 POINT TASKS

5.1: Moment of Frustration Day - Keep from adding anymore frustrations to your brain, and read a book that's been calling your name!

5.2: Chemistry Week - The first week of November is Chemistry Week. Read any book with a geeky main or secondary character.

5.3: I Wish It Was Spring - Use this task to claim points for those stubborn books that won't work for other tasks.

10 POINT TASKS

10.1: Alternatives - Read one book with 150 pages or less, and read one book with 500 pages or more.

10.2: Chinese Moon Festival - This festival takes place in September, and to celebrate we'll read a book with a moon on the cover.
Required: Post cover.

10.3: All About You - Read a book that starts with the first letter of your name (The, A, An excluded), and read another book whose author's first name starts with the same letter as your name. Ex: If your name was Alice, you could read All of the Above and a book by Allan Stanistreet.

15 POINT TASKS

15.1: Melbourne Day - This Australian holiday is celebrated in remembrance of the founding of Melbourne in 1835. Read a book where something in the book is founded -- a business, school, city/place, etc.
Required: What is founded?

15.2: School is Back! (Courtesy of Meghan) - Read a book that can be seen on a school reading list. OR Read a book that is on this list: http://www.teenreads.com/teenreadscom... (PDF: http://www.teenreads.com/sites/defaul...).
Required: If using provided links, tell which list you found the book on.

15.2: Children's Day - The last Sunday in October is Children's Day in New Zealand. Read two books with a teenage character (ages 13 - 19).

15.3: Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur - Read a book with a Jewish character (can be any character).

20 POINT TASKS

20.1: Thanksgiving Feast, Anyone? - Read three books with a celebratory feast of some sort in the book (a holiday meal, graduation celebration (like at a restaurant), birthday party, etc.).

20.2: Football Has Begun - Read a book that takes place in one of the cities that has an NFL team. Then read a book that starts with the same letter as that team's mascot. *For the 49ers, read a book that starts with F.* List of teams: http://www.nfl.com/teams/. Ex: You could read a book that takes place in Detroit and Last Sacrifice (Lions).
Required: Tell which team and mascot you chose.

20.3: Halloween Costumes (Courtesy of Kristin) - Choose one of the popular costumes below and read the items under it.

--Vampire
*Read a book with a vampire main character.
*Read a book whose title or author first/last name starts with a V.
*Read a book that has fangs or blood on the cover.

--Witch/Wizard/Warlock
*Read a book with a witch/wizard/warlock main character.
*Read a book whose title or author first/last name starts with a W.
*Read a book with a hat of any kind or a cat (not lions, tigers, panthers, etc.) on the cover.

--Ghost
*Read a book with a ghost/phantom/specter main character.
*Read a book whose title or author first/last name starts with a G.
*Read a book with a creepy house or white dress on the cover.

Required: Post covers and author names if necessary.

25 POINT TASKS

25.1: Wedding Themes (Courtesy of Meghan) - Congratulations to Meghan on her engagement/marriage! Using an autumn theme for both her wedding and this task, find each of the following items in a book or on the cover. Items: Leaves (fall leaves, leaving town, etc.), Colours (orange, red, yellow, brown, mid to dark green), Flowers (tiger lilies, roses, calla lilies, etc.). *One book per item.*
Required: Post covers if necessary.

25.2: The Unusuals Part Two - Read a book with a main or secondary character that's a dragon.

25.3: Knots on a String Part Two - Like last session, the three books you read for this task will be branching off of each other. This time, however, you will use authors. The books' authors must connect by either their first or last names (middle names will count, not middle initials). Ex: Dan Brown, Jennifer Brown, and Jennifer Ashley.

35 POINT TASKS

35.1: Labour Day! (Diana S's task) - Let's celebrate this holiday by reading three books with an occupation in the title. Ex: The Translator or The Aviator's Wife.

35.2: Zoo Boo! (Diana S's task) - Each year, my family always looks forward to going to the Zoo Boo during Halloween. Read 3 books with the names of animals in the titles that you might see in the zoo. Ex: Parrot and Olivier in America or The Frog Princess.

35.3: Autumn Around the World (Courtesy of Melanie) - Choose one of the words below, and read a book for each letter. The catch to this is that you must read books that take place in a country starting with the corresponding letter. Word list: fall, leaf, rake, pies. *You don't use titles and authors for this.* Ex: If you were reading APRIL, you could read books that took place in Australia, Peru, Russia, Ireland, and Lebanon.

50 POINT TASKS - You can only claim for 50 points twice. This being said, you can either do 50.1 twice, 50.2 twice, or each task once.

50.1: The Frankenstein Collection (Diana S's task) - It's that time of year when Dr. Frankenstein needs to collect spare body parts for his beloved creature. Read 5 books with body parts in the title. Ex: Freaky Green Eyes or One Foot in the Grave.

50.2: Fear Factor (Diana S's task) - Pick 5 fears, then read a book that has each fear in the title. Ex: Amaxophobia (fear of riding in a car) - Riding in Cars with Boys or Cardiophobia (fear of the heart) - Be Still My Vampire Heart. Phobia list: http://www.phobia-fear-release.com/li....
Required: List what fear you chose and its meaning for each book.

75 POINT TASKS - In the same manner as the 50 point tasks, you can only claim for 75 points twice.

75.1: It's the Great Pumpkin! (Diana S's task) - Let's join Linus in the Pumpkin Patch this fall. Spell out PUMPKIN. Read 7 books using the first word of the title (The, A, An excluded) or the first or last name of the author. Ex: for "K" Kate Atkinson's Life After Life; for "M" Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore.

75.2: Class Schedule (Diana S's task) - Pick one of the following classes (Algebra, History, Biology), then spell it out using the first word in the title (The, A, An excluded) or the first or last name of the author. *7 books.*
